I have been a clinical social worker for over a decade & specialize in working individuals who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder & their family members. In addition, I work with individuals struggling with chronic suicidality & those working to cope with major life changes including recent mental health diagnoses, loss of autonomy due to aging, physical ailments, & caregiver fatigue.

My practice incorporates both philosophy and science in accordance with existential-humanistic theory. Understanding the nature of one's own suffering through self-reflection and compassionate guidance is instrumental in healing. The blending of philosophy and science enhances the individual's ability to internalize self-compassion, acceptance, and a greater ability to change what does not fit.

Colleen Crossey is a Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan who has been practicing since 1986. She attended the University of PA for Criminology and received a Bachelor in Arts (BA) in 1990 and attended Duquesne University and received a Master's in Science Education (MSED) in 1998. Colleen has worked with people who have major depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and kids at risk. She has worked with inmates at Washtenaw County jail and worked on the line in a factory making car seats. Colleen has a calming voice and a strong spirit for advocacy.

I provide forensic evaluation services for both criminal and civil matters. Common referrals include competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and violence risk. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and have consistently been qualified as an expert witness. Particular areas of interest are schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, drug induced psychosis, extreme overvalued beliefs versus delusions, and malingering. I also provide consultation and review of other expert's work.

I am proficient in applying a diverse range of theoretical approaches in individual, group, and family psychotherapy. My extensive experience extends to working with clients diagnosed with various mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, antisocial disorder, substance abuse, PTSD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. My training encompasses working with individuals, couples, and families, and my passion lies in guiding individuals toward positive mental health outcomes.

I have over 13 years of clinical experience working with severe and persistent mental illness. I have trained at Michigan Hospital for my Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. I am here to provide empathetic non-judgmental therapy that empowers your individual needs and desires in treatment.

I have experience with treating clients with a variety of diagnoses including Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Bi-polar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Sexuality Issues, Transgender issues, Substance Abuse, Psychosis, Behavioral and Parenting Issues. I've worked in the Behavioral Health Unit of a local hospital for the past several years and have practiced in clinics in urban and rural areas. I have seen clients from a variety of educational backgrounds including higher education such as teachers and professors. At this time, I am seeing patients by telehealth only.
