Life is hard, and it helps to speak with someone about what we are dealing with. Societal changes and expectations can cause a lot of stress, anxiety, and worry. Additionally, we can get caught up in situations and make missteps that cause us worry or anxiety. This is true for all people, and men and adolescent boys trying to navigate competing expectations put on us by family, society, and work often find it difficult to talk about their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental environment. As such, my work focuses on adult and adolescent males. They may be experiencing depression, dealing with a trauma, or anxiety.
Working with my clients, what I don't bring is judgement. What I do bring is the understanding that you want to be heard and improve something in your life. I use CBT techniques, Anger Management, and Solution Focused Therapy to assist people in reaching their goals.
I know what it is to want to talk with someone but not know how to start and that life is difficult and unfair. Experiences that inform my approach are varied and have not all been easy. Having been a fire fighter, combat medic, college athlete, and worked everything from construction and security to social services I have seen a lot and can't judge anyone.
