Paul earned his MS in Counseling from Texas A&M University and his PhD in Counselor Education from Kansas State University. Prior to that, he received a BA in English Literature from the University of Windsor in Canada. Paul spent several years as a professor at the University of Florida in the counseling department before returning to clinical work. Paul has experience helping clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, professional issues, relationship issues, identity development, adjustment challenges, work/life balance and other life-stresses.
Paul assists clients to explore and interrogate dominant and problematic stories and revise them in ways that are more authentic and validating. In addition, he often incorporates elements from cognitive-behavioral, reality, person-centered, and existential therapies as well as the use of creativity and mindfulness practices in his work.
Outside of the office, Paul lives happily with his wife and two little dogs. He often enjoys walking, when it’s not too warm, or spending an hour or two digging through crates in record stores (or surfing the internet) for interesting new music.
