Despite all of your efforts to make changes in your life you may still find yourself unhappy, discouraged, and/or lost. We often develop ways to distance ourselves from our emotional pain. While these strategies undoubtedly provide temporary relief, they never address the origin of our underlying pain in any profound way. In my opinion, meaningful change comes from honestly addressing and healing the core issue(s) of our lives. As we all know, honestly facing ourselves can be a tricky and difficult process. Healing takes courage, determination, and a willingness to be open and vulnerable. This can be very difficult to do alone.
Truthfully all therapists are different. We will view your concerns, and the solutions for them, differently based on our education, training, and life experiences. Therefore, when you choose a therapist, it is important to understand how they work, what they are going to focus on, and how they are going to help you heal. Therapy needs to make sense to you.
