In my 35+ years of counseling I have been fortunate to work with a wide variety of people with a wide variety of issues in a wide variety of settings. My broad goal in counseling is to foster positive change in others. I believe my success in working with people has been my ability to be adaptable and open when relating to the person, group, or family I am trying to assist. I listen to identify the present issues and the possible history of these issues. I employ an eclectic approach in therapy using the tools to promote change.
I have worked in many settings which include the following: treatment centers for alcohol and drug abuse, halfway houses, psychiatric hospitals, community MHMR outpatient treatment offices, state facilities to address issues related to mental retardation, state facilities to address adolescent criminal behavior, and private practice. In what ever setting, I believe the individual is unique.
