As social animals, we humans, not only learn about others when we talk with them, we learn about ourselves and define who we want to be. Simply put, this is why I believe that talk therapy can be helpful in processing emotions and fostering positive change.
As a therapist, my work is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exploring how one’s thinking may affect feelings and influence behavior. Despite this, I do not follow a strict form or curriculum. I seek to be integrative and holistic in my approach. I seek to create a safe, open space to explore your agenda and work towards your goals.
I believe that as we explore thinking and feeling through CBT, we may also need to incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy methods. This allows us to utilize mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to prepare us to do the cognitive work of CBT.
