I believe people seek out objective psychological services when they have exhausted their personal resources; it is at that point I find they are open to collaboratively seeking out and finding new ways to resolve their problems. With a Master's Degree from East Carolina University and 35+ years experience, primarily in a clinical setting, but some in group care and some in academia, I have been married to Chuck for 30 years and have 3 wonderful adult children. As of October 1st, 2024, I will retire from my full time practice on only consult on an as needed basis with existing clients.
I work with a variety of groups and find the following techniques useful in my work: non-directional play therapy, art therapy, strategic and structural work in family therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy as well as Insight Oriented Therapy with adolescents and older. I am basic trained In EMDR.
My office is located on Randall Parkway within about 2 miles from UNC-W. I recently left a group practice where I worked for 28 years and have gone into a solo practice. My husband, does my in-house billing.
