We all face numerous challenges in our lives, many beyond our control. How we react and respond will help to determine resolutions and our sense of peace. One major issue that many people face is navigating relationships well, whether it be a significant other, family of origin, parenting challenges, or workplace relationships. My desire is to help individuals and families to develop and improve skills to empower themselves to manage whatever difficulties they face. I believe that faith is an important aspect of life that can have a great impact on coming to terms with loss and finding one's true value and purpose.
I love working with adults and older adolescents using cognitive behavioral therapy to guide them to a realistic and positive perspective of themselves, their strengths and their view of the world in which they live. In doing so, it is often helpful to uncover how past traumas have shaped and hindered their ability to freely grow to their full potential.
I also enjoy helping people to build and improve their relationship skills, for example communication skills, healthy boundary setting and increasing empathy. I have completed Levels 1-3 of the Gottman Method for relationship counseling and utilize these skills when working with couples.
