Being a parent is hard, and I am here to help. I love working with children and teenagers. I have worked in the public school system providing counseling and educational evaluations for upwards of two decades. I have helped numerous kids develop higher senses of self-esteem and self-awareness by equipping them with tools to regulate their emotions and work toward educational and career goals.

It becomes concerning when pleasing others neglects your happiness and most importantly your mental wellbeing. Dimensions of Wellness Counseling is a counseling practice that provides quality, accessible, inexpensive mental health and whole wellness services to children, adolescents, and adults in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. The purpose of this practice is to provide services that look at the whole person and to meet each individual's needs based on the principles of the Dimensions of Wellness, which is why a one-size fits all approach to counseling is not utilized.

I am a Survivor of domestic violence. My name is Wanda R.W. McKinley, and I went through over 22 consecutive years of abuse. When we go through traumatic experiences in our lives, we sometimes find it hard to express our feelings and thoughts to others. Those trapped emotions eventually find their way to the surface and causes us to react in negative ways. Being a Survivor I understand the importance of being able to express yourself even if it is not verbally. I want to help individuals transition from abusive situations to being self-sufficient in society. The vision is to empower men and women so they can and will survive.

It takes courage to take the first step and reach out for help. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where you are able to share your story. My goal is for you to feel honored, valued and heard. Maybe you are dealing with relationship concerns like a change in your family situation or concerns with a child. I've worked with individuals for around 15 years in a variety of settings. These settings include being a teacher, school counselor, online therapist and a therapist at a behavioral health hospital. I have experience in helping individuals with stress, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and addictions.

I've worked with adolescence and families for around 25 years in a variety of settings. These settings include being a youth / children's pastor prior to starting my counseling journey. Much of my experience involves working with those that struggle with abuse, depression, relationship conflict, self harming behaviors, legal issues, and behavior problems. Although I am licensed to practice counseling through the State of Texas, I am a Christian and the fundamentals of my practice are in line with traditional Christian faith.
