Seeking out support for yourself or for your child is a courageous act, and one that is full of hope. I have been teaching parenting classes in the San Diego area for over five years.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, parents, and families. Play Therapy is my preferred modality as children communicate more freely using play, My professional experience includes helping children whose parents are involved in the process of divorce and I am trained in Co- Parenting, which is a specialization that addresses parenting issues that arise from divorce. Recognizing the significant impact that parental separation can have on a child’s well-being, I work closely with parents to facilitate healthy communication and co- parenting strategies to help foster emotional resilience for their children.

I want to help empower you to feel hopeful in your relationships, sturdy as a parent, and resilient as an individual.
If you are a parent who is feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, hopeless or exhausted over your kiddo or young adult’s challenges, or are someone who is dealing with your own anxiety, sadness or relationship struggles, I get it. It’s so common to feel isolated and alone with our overactive thoughts and feelings or our concerns about whether we are raising our precious offspring in a way that will give them grit and resilience to face life's obstacles. Sometimes we just need someone in our corner. I would love to be on your team and support you with strategies to create the life you want for yourself and your family. I'm glad you're here

Please call, text, or email me so that we can begin working towards a more peaceful, intentional parenting experience.
Parenting can be tough. You wonder if your child will ever grow out of their excessive worries, meltdowns, or tantrums, and you become exhausted and feel guilty for being frustrated with them. The nightly battle with homework and reports from school are wearing you down. The power struggle with your spirited toddler or your strong willed adolescent may leave you overwhelmed and wondering what you can do differently. Communicating and feeling unified with your partner or caregiver may be difficult or your styles may be different, creating a state of uncertainty or chaos in the home.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a non-directive intervention in which the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance. Children are met with unconditional positive regard from their therapist, with a focus on cultivating a safe environment in which children feel free to express themselves fully. I bring this same approach to my work with moms who feel anxious and overwhelmed by the great and terrible adventure that is parenting. I also offer clinical supervision to post-graduate ASW's who are interested in working with children or teens.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
