It takes courage to decide to change and to reach out to a therapist to join you on that journey. The best outcomes occur in the context of a therapeutic relationship that feels like the right match for you, in terms of the therapist's interpersonal style, approach, and expertise. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with my clients to make the changes they are seeking in their relationships, their self-understanding, their unwanted patterns of behavior, and their mood. My approach is active, supportive, warm, respectful, compassionate, and strength-focused. I use multiple approaches to help clients find solutions.
I am very interested in; helping individuals navigate difficult transitions including divorce and its aftermath, single parenting, retirement and aging; providing guidance for parents with child rearing concerns; supporting teachers dealing with work and personal issues; and helping people experiencing depression, anxiety and eating issues.
Having been the Counseling Director at a girls' boarding school and doing private practice for 30 plus years, I enjoy working with teens, college students and young adults having social, family, identity and work problems as they transition to college and professional life. I am also committed to consulting to independent schools on a full range of issues.
