Using evidence-based therapy modalities like psychodynamic, mindfulness, relational, existential and expressive therapies, we will together guide you through the process of developing a more fulfilled and authentic version of yourself.
Are you tired of feeling stuck in life; trapped in the same repetitive patterns, problems and relationships over and over as you try to navigate your inner emotional world? Do you feel discouraged and struggle to make the necessary changes to promote healing? We all need to be heard and understood; to have more fulfilling relationships, joy, satisfaction and happiness within ourselves and in our lives. Imagine, for a moment, that you are experiencing yourself the way you are meant to feel. You now have more joy, more compassion, more self-understanding, more fulfilling relationships, more connection with a sense of balance in your life.

I am experienced in depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relational conflict, family systems, addiction, criminal justice, anger management, eating disorders/body image, and mood disorders. The ideal client actively wants to explore their behaviors and thinking patterns and identify the underlying causes of these behaviors. In addition, the ideal client will be willing to tackle goals inside & outside therapy sessions. My ideal client would be an individual who is internally and externally motivated to change their life. They show up to sessions on time consistently and make a conscious effort to engage in the therapeutic process.

My ideal client wants something better, has no idea what "better" is or looks like, and has no idea where to start. They are still determining if they are ready to start or commit to that change. What they need is a person and a space to figure it out. Deep down, they know where they are right now can be better, whether in relationships, emotions, daily habits, major life goals, or anything in-between. But, most importantly, they want a space where they can process and grow from that place and build a sustainable life.

I mainly work with attachment-based traumas, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in personal and work relationships. I enjoy working with clients who want to get to the root of their struggles. These clients would like to gain insight into their symptoms, something difficult that has happened to them or to explore cycles and patterns that aren’t serving them. The clients I see often have attended therapy in the past.

Our work, including elements of forgiveness, grief and personal empowerment, gives you permission to have compassion and support for yourself first, no matter what messages the world and your childhood have trained you to believe. Many people who seek mental health services struggle to find a clinician who is both personable and effective. The most important factor in therapeutic success is the therapeutic relationship. I am not the right fit for everyone, but finding the right professional is key. My work includes working with difficult to treat individuals as well as those who have experienced previous treatment failures. I am also a forensic psychologist and conduct evaluations of individuals involved with the legal system and often provide expert testimony. If you think I might be able to help you achieve your therapeutic goals, please contact me.

I believe therapy can be a universally rewarding practice that can help navigate through life's stressors. Especially in the last few years, we see how important it is to take care of ourselves and find support. It can be overwhelming and intimidating even trying to find a place to start. My goal is to help you navigate through obstacles and barriers you may experience in order to start looking forward to the future. You are the expert on your thoughts and experiences, and we will work together to find solutions that best fit your needs.

Parents can hold shame, self-reproach, frustration, and helplessness over a child’s distress; children fear, disgrace, anger, disquiet. Such dynamics summon my expertise. Mood disturbance, anxiety, panic, and maladjustment manifest as aversion to separation, school refusal, flawed coping mechanisms, pervasive woe. My approach allows vulnerability to speak. Individuals emerge from our process prepared to ably navigate their world by developing and honing effective strategies to ameliorate symptoms. More profoundly, they are empowered to not just push through travail, but to mindfully sit with it long enough to seed proper growth.

There is much talk these days about the power of being vulnerable as popularized by transformative figures such as Brené Brown. I believe it is important work to unearth what activates our vulnerability, shame, and fear, but what deeply excites me is what may happen beyond these revelations. What do we do next, armed with knowledge of our metaphorical Achilles' heel? How do we move forward with courage, optimism, fortitude, and resolve? This is where I bring a robust skill set and personal strengths to the table to work alongside you on your healing path.

Every individual can benefit from therapy, it's all about a desire to find help. Working together in a safe environment with clients is shown to be the most successful way to build and develop a therapeutic relationship. Meaningful goals can be achieved.

Having had the experience of working with people of all walks in life, one of my favorite parts of counseling is getting to know you as a person, the whole you! My goal in counseling is to work with each individual to help connect their mind-body-spirit (as you define it) in helping them to improve their overall wellness. The joy of counseling is finding what works for you which is why I tailor counseling to each individual, while working to help you identify your own strengths that can help you overcome the challenges that life has to offer.

Humans are products of their environments. In fact, you can tell a lot about a person as they unravel the dimensions of their early family life. Our thoughts mediate everything and carry into our daily experience. I aim to help you identify, explore, and challenge yourself to aid in the journey of becoming the best version of you. Successful clients gain a sense of empowerment, take control of their life, and discern failure as opportunity for success. I have experience with children, adolescents, & adults suffering from OCD, ADHD, BPD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, ODD, codependency, and interpersonal conflicts.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
