Are you a woman in midlife wondering about her next chapter? A recent college graduate navigating the challenges of launching your adult life? Someone experiencing challenges in your relationship? Let's be honest, in our productivity-obsessed society, it's easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day routines of our lives and not take time to prioritize our wellbeing. Here's what I know: taking time out of your week to intentionally focus on yourself in therapy can help. A lot. Think of therapy as a stepping stone, a safe place that allows for a pause as you reflect on your path and choose your direction with awareness and confidence.

Research shows at least 1 in 5 people struggle with an anxiety disorder. Helping someone with anxiety or OCD has become a true passion of mine- or the "bread and butter" of my therapy skillset. I am a state licensed professional counselor drawn towards helping children and adults to be the best version of themselves. I primarily use a short term, problem solving approach also known as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but often use a "neapolitan" combination approach in working with people to tailor to their each individual needs.

I am also trained in CBT, DBT, and ACT (all behavioral approaches), and believe that they can be quite helpful!.
Currently accepting new clients in PA only. I believe that "it's the connection that heals." To me, it's important to build trust and safety in my work with clients- and also to be genuine! I work with clients facing a wide variety of issues from stress, anxiety, and depression to trauma, mood regulation, identity, family issues, and more. When I work with clients, I meet them where they're at, judgement-free. My clients decide on their own therapy goals, so you are in charge of the direction we take in therapy. Feedback is great! I like to be my real self in therapy with clients, and I hope that encourages you to do the same.

The DBT group that I run was the first of it's kind in our area, and the only adolescent group in my area for several years.
Thank you for checking out my profile. I primarily work with adults and adolescents, but occasionally work with children. My focus is on addictions, mood disorders, or personality disorders. Because of the high rate of trauma with addictions and personality disorders, I offer trauma informed care and best practices to all of my clients. For over 10 years I have run an adolescent Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT) group for adolescents and young adults who self harm or have self destructive behaviors. Finally, I offer crisis and health and wellness seminars to local businesses in need.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
I believe that every person deserves someone in their corner; someone to listen and truly hear what they’re going through. All it takes is one person to believe in you and your ability to grow. With that in mind, I bring compassion, understanding, and energy when joining with clients to build strategies for self-regulation, independence, and healthy relationships. I have a keen understanding of the issues and pressures faced by youth and young adults today in an ever-changing world.

I focus on self-compassion, mindfulness, and DBT skills as ways to tolerate discomfort in uncertain situations, and include some ACT and CBT skills in my work as well.
There are many things in life that we cannot control, but wellness lies in how we react to our emotions and the difficult situations we encounter. I work with clients to separate the uncontrollable from the controllable, and provide them with the tools to sit in the discomfort of challenging emotions. I aim to provide a safe space in which clients feel comfortable enough to make changes in their lives for the better. I have worked with clients of all ages, but have the most experience working with neurodivergent trans adolescents struggling with anxiety and mood disorders as well as navigating their gender expression and identity.

I use an integrated-approach to help build a strong therapeutic relationship along with using evidence-based treatments (EMDR, DBT, and CBT) to meet each client's unique needs.
I believe one of the most courageous things you can do is begin to understand your own story. It can be scary to open up about your experiences, especially to a stranger. I want to break the mental health stigma by creating a safe and comfortable space to talk about your life experiences through providing authenticity, compassion, acceptance and humor! Getting a better understanding of your story and life experiences will help identify what may be keeping you from moving forward and will allow us to work together to get you on the path to living the life you want.

Using evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, I help you shift your relationship with food and your body, enabling you to eat without doing math, listen to your body’s cues, and enjoy social events without fear.
You’re counting every calorie, overcompensating with exercise, and feeling guilt and shame after eating sweets alone. Social events are hard because menus don’t fit your strict meal plan. You feel overwhelmed from one cookie, hate looking in the mirror, and believe changing your body will bring happiness and love. I understand the struggle with food and body image is overwhelming. You deserve to find peace with food, enjoy eating without guilt, and achieve true self-acceptance. My approach focuses on helping you reconnect with your body and trust your inner wisdom.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
