Welcome to my practice. No matter what circumstances have led you here, I hope to provide a safe place for you to explore, heal, and grow. Maybe life has presented some new challenges for you and you need to grow to meet those challenges. I help by delivering effective, evidence based therapy to treat a variety of anxiety related concerns, including: OCD, Panic, Generalized Anxiety, Phobias, Fears, and BFRBs.
I have a waitlist. Are you looking to free yourself from anxiety? Are you avoiding places, things, or situations because you might have a panic attack? Are obsessive thoughts and compulsions pulling you further and further away from enjoining your life? Anxiety seems to have a way of creating rules that people need to follow just to keep it all together. The problem is, the more we follow anxiety's rules, the more powerful it becomes. It can start to feel like your life has gotten smaller, more rigid, even less fun as the anxiety continues to grow. If you have found my page, then you are likely hoping to take your life back.

Accepting new clients! Let's be real, change and life transitions can be terrifying. Especially if they come about suddenly or unwillingly. Struggling with relentless panic, racing anxious thoughts, or paralyzing fear can impact your ability to show up in your life even in the most basic way. Whether your obsessions deal with contamination, checking, intrusive thoughts of harm, moral/religious scrupulosity, or anything else, OCD can often leave a person feeling isolated, trapped, and sometimes terrified of themselves. It can be incredibly overwhelming trying to navigate this all alone.

Accepting new clients! Your neurodivergence makes you feel "other" and "on the outside" in a world that is set up for neutrotypicals. The consistent pressure to function as if your brain is not different makes day-to-day life so exhausting you could burst. You are starting to come to terms with the fact that your intrusive thoughts and compulsions may actually be OCD, but you have no idea where to start with something that feels so big. You are tired of pretending that your partners aren't your partners when discussing... well, everything. You want to discuss the complexities and nuances of your relationships. ALL of them.

My practice is devoted to treating the full range of emotional and psychological problems that an individual may be experiencing from a psychoanalytic perspective. My goal is to enable clients to experience themselves in a creative way having shed the burden of maladaptive ways of relating to self and others and free of defensive emotional patterns. The way to do so, I am convinced, is to explore the past, present and future to clues to what enslaves, what is currently painful and what freedom as a gift of self promises.

Mental health symptoms like depression, anxiety, anger, stress, etc., are just that- symptoms! These symptoms are our bodies way of telling us "something's not right" or "there needs to be a change here." It is imperative that we are mindful in listening to our bodies, and intentionally work to meet our emotional needs. In therapy, we dedicate time to build insight, strengthen more compassionate mindsets, and learn coping skills which regulate our bodies.

Healing, personal growth and ultimately flourishing, takes effort. We may find ourselves fighting against not only the outside world but sometimes ourselves. And if you are reading this far, then I want you to celebrate…here and now. Offer yourself gratitude. While we may aspire for worldly success in our relationships, work, or daily routines, attempting to do so without knowing ourselves deeply, healing personal and generational wounds, and feeling empowered, we fall short. That's why with clients of varying, intersecting identities and unique concerns, I prioritize personal/systemic insight, authenticity, and acceptance.

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
