It is also important for me to work from a trauma sensitive, culturally humble, and strength-based stance with all of my clients.
Therapy is an incredible place to get to know yourself and grow through some of life’s most challenging experiences and events. I wish to offer a safe space to explore, learn and address your concerns and worries. I have experience helping both teens and adults of various backgrounds, and orientations including the LGBTQIA+ community. I wish to empower clients to accomplish their goals, live in their truth, and make the changes they deem necessary for themselves.

Currently, I provide CBT, ACT, and Strength-based Therapy.
As a pre-licensed professional, I currently have a lot of experience working with adolescence. Ideally, I would like to expand on my knowledge by specifically helping teens or adults that might have symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, Anger, etc. Individuals like these might or could be in a situation that requires someone like me to build rapport, gain trust, provide alternatives solutions to the issue at hand, and healthy feedback.

My focus is on utilizing strength-based approaches to highlight the strengths that my clients already possess.
Mental health, addiction, and chronic illness all have something in common. They can be debilitating and create cyclical habits that are difficult to break. I work with motivated individuals who are willing to make a change in their lives for the better, examine their past and present experiences and feelings, and work to find healthier ways to cope.

With some trauma-focused techniques & a positive strength-based approach, I will help clients explore positive paths forward with their goals.
I have an extensive professional history of working with families and couples in crisis. Many of us struggle in our relationships & find that clear communication is challenging for many reasons. The barriers may include issues with past trauma or failed attempts to find the right words during a conflict. I bring the structural therapy tools to help a family, couple, or individual recognize the triggers of their conflicts, explore past trauma & the impact it may have on the current relationship/situation, help the individual challenge automatic negative assumptions, & find a response which leads to clear communication.

Therapy is a process that promotes exploration and self-discovery. We all live with internal challenges that may have been caused by external stressors. Sometimes in life we need to really set aside time to slow down, take a look at ourselves and attempt to answer the question “Who are you?” Many of us define our lives by our occupation yet the answer to this question goes much deeper. Who we are as individuals can dictate how we deal with stress, how we make decisions and even how we take care of ourselves.

Ever have the feeling as if you are just going through the motions of your life, or waiting for the day to be over so you can go to sleep, just to wake up and do it all over again? Are you tired of the "hamster wheel" constantly spinning, wondering how on earth you are supposed to incorporate "self-care" along with everything else you are responsible for? As women, we have so many pressures and expectations placed on us that are often unrealistic. This leads to burn out and feels like we are living our lives for everyone else except ourselves.

Are you trying to learn more about yourself and how you can best navigate your world? Are you exploring all parts of your identity and what makes you "you"? I have focused primarily on identity-related challenges, including Gender/Sexuality exploration, Race/Ethnic identity concerns, Religious/Cultural trauma, and Sex/Intimacy issues. I also have experience helping clients navigate issues related to depression, anxiety, and ADHD/Neurodivergent disorders. I'm here to be a collaborative and warm therapist who isn't going to throw a therapy book at them but instead wants someone who sees them as human beings walking through life.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
