My ideal client is a boy or young man, aged 10-25, struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, or self-esteem issues. They need a safe space to express themselves, develop coping skills, and build resilience. Their goals include improving mental health, emotional regulation, and self-confidence. Parent coaching is integral to my approach, with parents expected to meet with me once a month to support their child's progress and strengthen family dynamics. Together, we work towards empowering these young men to thrive in all areas of life.

Each struggle in life brings an opportunity to uncover conflicts and create healing with a deeper exploration in therapy. I meet people where they are in life and begin treatment there. I have hope that healing can occur in everyone if they have motivation. I use a creative arts, integrative, evidence based model to explore patterns, beliefs, and get to the core so we can rebuild where the healing is needed. With children, I use play therapy and creative arts. I use insight, goals, and strengths to create treatments plans. We re-assess every few months to track progress.

Therapy provides the opportunity to be completely honest in a safe and confidential space. Sessions allow you to explore current stressors, and painful experiences in relationships. Looking at past patterns in your story can reveal the need for reconnecting with self, gaining insight, self-compassion and strength. Seeking meaningful change, personal growth, and finding a way forward can be good reasons for therapy.

I’ve been in the counseling field for nearly 30 years and continue to feel passionate about helping each person, family or couple. As a faith-based therapist I integrate my clinical experience & training with biblical beliefs in my treatment approach. Healthy relationships are vital to living a satisfying and fulfilling life. The first step in healing is self-awareness. Understanding your emotions and thoughts can guide you in establishing healthy boundaries. Second, grasping the body-mind connection is vital to the transformation process. Lastly, identifying your attachment style can improve your friendships, marriage and family.

I've been counseling children and parents for over 15 years. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional dysregulation issues, and parenting difficulties. I use art and creative interventions in my work with children. I also involve parents in sessions to give them the tools they need to better support their child. I enjoy working individually with parents who have childhood trauma that has resurfaced since becoming a parent to learn how it impacts them in the present day. I offer a warm approach and take time to understand and connect with the people I see.

Due to the intensity of trauma and learning different treatment methods/coping strategies, it has trickled over into other specialties such as anxiety, depression, and anger.

Do you want to feel more "free" emotionally, mentally, & physically, wanting to improve your life for yourself and possible future relationships/children/family? My ideal client is motivated to engage in treatment and reach their goals of becoming more psychologically flexible and strengthening their connections with themselves and those meaningful relationships around them.

Our wounds, losses, and trauma can trap us in painful patterns of avoidance, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, and shame.
Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
