What sets the identity of my sessions is their structure and strategy. While I believe in having client centered treatment, I've often felt as though the therapist/client relationship requires strategy and tangible advancement that can be noted by the client. What this means is that using psycho education to identify thought or behavior patterns is often used as well as guided conversations to further explore the nature of distressed mental health symptoms. My previous experience includes: Adult counseling with a focus on Anxiety based disorders, Family counseling, Reunification counseling, Drug/Alcohol counseling

I’m interested in how trauma and life transitions impact how you feel about yourself and your relationship with the world. I will work with you on trauma, self-harm, identity and self-esteem, attachment struggles, individual, family, and group relationship dynamics, domestic violence, and relational boundaries – and how these factors and mental health symptoms play out in patterns in people’s lives. Note that I offer therapy to individuals and not group or family therapy sessions.

Alyssa earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). After years as an educator and adolescent life coach, Alyssa pursued an education in therapeutic disciplines where she witnessed the vast needs of young people, families, and couples alike who were navigating relationships, trauma, mental health challenges, behavioral concerns, loss and change. Alyssa takes a holistic approach with her clients, specializing in adult and adolescent therapy, couples and families, and uses a client-centered approach informed by Internal Family Systems, and Adlerian Theory.

As a licensed marriage & family therapist, my goal is to help individuals, couples and families achieve a greater sense of contentment in life. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, building a relationship with you that fosters courage for change.

After working as an elementary educator for over 20 years, I chose to become a social worker to help address the increased need for mental health services in children and adolescents. I currently work with clients ages 12-25, and my clients are often dealing with trauma histories, behavioral difficulties, and self-esteem issues. Additionally, I provide a safe and affirming space for clients within the LGBTQ community to explore paths to their truths and desired lives.

I am a licensed professional counselor with 20+ years of experience. I am interested in helping people find hope and direction in their lives. Life has been difficult for many during these past few years and many people have been isolated from the support they need. It can be additionally challenging if you have symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, or mania. Life is full of suffering. Broken relationships, crippling addictions, anxiety, depression, and all other sorts of ailments that leave us feeling hopeless and powerless. I know what it’s like to be trapped in this suffering. I also have experienced the way out. Let me be your guide, your safe space to learn how to endure the suffering of life in a way that produces peace, joy, and hope.

Therapy is about giving the Client his/her voice to fully and safely express his/her thoughts, feelings and stories without feeling judged. It is helping the Client see clearly their role and place in life and to find the Hero within Themselves. The Client will be Empowered to lead and enjoy their lives as productively as possible despite past or present hardships.

It's hard work to look inward at ourselves. I would like to come along side of you to find ways to experience healing from your hurt. As a therapist I hope to build you up when you've been knocked down and get you to a place where you can find peace and confidence in your self again.
