I also thoroughly enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ+, poly, and kink/BDSM communities.
I do my best work with clients who are curious about themselves, have a good sense of humor, and are often at a significant transition point in their lives. Clients most often begin working with me around issues related to trauma, anxiety, or relational wounding and are seeking new ways to relate to themselves, others, and the world around them. My overarching goal in my work with clients is to help them move through the world with a greater degree of consciousness, courage, and compassion - whatever that may mean or look in their lives.

Many of us in the LGBTQIA+ community have had to become the people we are today just so that we can survive.
Currently accepting new clients! As a queer, trans, non-binary human I will offer my lived experience and clinical expertise where appropriate to provide a safe and affirming space. Not only for queer people, but anyone who has ever felt alone or ‘other’. I became a therapist because I know how hard it was for me to find a queer-competent and affirming mental healthcare provider when I needed it the most. I specialize working with people who struggle with complicated thoughts and feelings surrounding sexual health & wellness, intimacy, desire, sexuality, gender identity, trauma, and non-monogamous relationships.

My specialities include trauma therapy and working with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Changing something in your life is a tough process. I want to help you build the capacity for change you can maintain. We will work to understand why the world can feel so overwhelming, and how this negatively impacts the way you feel about yourself, the way you interact with others in relationships, and generally the way you move about spaces everyday. The impact may be a result of things that happened early on in life, traumatic events, relationship struggles, major life changes, substance use, or maybe it is because you are struggling with identity. These are all areas that I can help you with.

Accepting new clients! You often feel like you are navigating a world that was not meant for you. You have spent years trying to find "your place" in the chaos but continue to struggle with where that is and how to even begin exploring that in a way that feels safe and supportive. Honestly, you have a hard time envisioning what it would even feel like to have found "your place". You often feel "other" and "on the outside", which makes social and romantic relationships difficult and only exacerbates the feelings and experiences you already struggle with on a daily basis. Anxiety, grief and loss, depression, neurodiversity, stress...

Accepting new clients! Being able to connect with a clinician can be hard. Really hard. Feeling "other" has become so normal that we often don't even realize we are merely surviving because we don't know there's another way to exist. That's where I come in. Drawing from both lived experience and professional experience, my goal is to help you move from merely surviving to truly thriving and step into your authenticity with confidence, contentment, and peace.

Hello! I am a queer and non-binary person who is half-Taiwanese and half-White, neurodiverse and chronically ill. I have the most experience working with clients who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically trans and gender-nonconforming people. I’m here to support you no matter what intersections of identity you may hold. I really enjoy working with clients who are seeking more fulfillment and authenticity in their lives - however that may mean to you - as your own autonomy is deeply important to me.

I'm a LGBTQIA+, relationship, and culturally affirming therapist.
Vulnerability. It's a word that sounds all motivating and "Hell yeah!" when Brene Brown talks about it, but when it comes to actually DOING it, it terrifies you. In order to get to the root of what's causing your discomfort, I'm going to ask you to get vulnerable. I'm going to ask you to share your story (no, the real story) with me. But you don't have to do it alone. I want to help you move from SURVIVING to THRIVING. I want you to FINALLY start living the life you've imagined. It doesn't have to be "someday". It can be now. And I can help.

Content Areas include toxic hook-up culture, recovery, sexual compulsion and addiction, love, identity, and body image for gay/ queer me.
For Gay, Bi, Queer Men, unresolved pain and unnamed hunger create severe ruptures in our here and now. Disruptive mood patterns and compulsions are signs of emotional injury that deserve a space to be held and cared for. Without language, we use our bodies and relationships to resolve the unresolved. Therapy is a place for this work and can be where the mind, body, & spirit become a family again. I support folx through a healing and relational framework to reconnect with values, hoping to take committed action towards goals and wishes. My work is focused on supporting gay, bi, and queer men to find integration.

I provide teletherapy to clients in Pennsylvania and California (I am licensed in both states). I work with adults (18-65) who are struggling with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, acute stress, substance use, and challenges with interpersonal relationships, major life transitions, coming out, gender, and queer identity development. I use EMDR therapy and client-centered, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral interventions to support people in healing from traumatic experiences and unresolved grief by helping them reprocess disturbing, burdensome memories so that they become less intrusive, distracting, and painful.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
