In the words of Mr. Rogers, “Play is really the work of childhood." I see kids who have prenatal, preverbal, or early childhood trauma; attachment and behavioral issues; or struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and anger. I will work with you to create a flexible treatment plan tailored to your child's individual needs, using techniques like prescriptive play therapy, filial therapy, expressive arts, sandtray, geek therapy, and attachment-based activities to directly address and heal the impact of stress on the body and brain. I help identify the reasons for children’s behavior and healthier ways to meet those needs.

I enjoy working with clients who want to get to the root of their struggles. These clients would like to gain insight into their symptoms, something difficult that has happened to them or to explore cycles and patterns that aren’t serving them. The clients I see often have attended therapy in the past. The clients I see also often present with attachment-based traumas, symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in their personal and work relationships.

I love seeing partnered individuals for attachment-based EFT work, especially in ENM, poly and other nontraditional relationships.
Hi! My name is Olivia, I also like being called Liv. I’m a born and raised in Pennsylvania queer, neurodivergent, cis-white woman. As a forever-aspiring healer, my hope is that my gift of authentic warmth, compassion, empathy, and down-to-earth way of nurturing helps you flourish your life with meaningful abundance. I also see my healing role inseparable from the call to recognize and tend to generational and current wounds caused by oppressive systems. I’m here to honor you and your experiences, to hold space for all joy and sorrow that comes with remembering, healing, and reclaiming.

My eclectic approach draws on The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), Attachment-Based Practices, Somatic Interventions, Ego States, Motivational Interviewing, and Systems Work.
I am available to serve clients located in PA & OH. I take a holistic approach to healing, because more often than not the environments that contribute to strife are all encompassing. The path to healing is not linear, I enjoy aiding clients through an eclectic approach tailored to fit their needs. It's not about what's wrong with you- it's about what happened to you. I do not view clients as a diagnosis, but dynamic individuals navigating the human experience.

Allow me to be your guide and help you move towards healing through a combination of ego state therapy, attachment-based interventions, and EMDR therapy.
Have you tried talk therapy without significant results? Have you watched the videos, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and still you are suffering or finding it hard to change or maintain change? Traditional talk therapy may have not worked for you because you cannot talk to the part of the brain that holds the memories that are “the roots” of your symptoms and pain. Growing up, you may have not had all your needs met consistently, resulting in challenges when you attempt to get close, or maintain closeness, with others. All humans have a universal need to feel safe, secure, and to be understood. You deserve to have that.

The biggest hurdle when we hurt is often not the struggle itself but feeing alone in it. Whether that struggle is depression or anxiety, a relational or vocational challenge or just feeling overwhelmed, I'm glad you have taken the first step to get someone in your corner as you face it. I will walk around the contours of that roadblock with you, finding the keys to unlock the places where you're getting blocked. In therapy we will collaborate together to create corrective emotional experiences, change stuck patterns and help you discover new, healthy ways of facing the challenges in your life.

Many find themselves at a point in their lives where external support is necessary to navigate life's challenges. My clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Some may come to therapy to deal with a specific struggle, such as anxiety or depression, while others initiate therapy during a difficult life transition. Even positive transitions, such as getting a new job or starting a new relationship can be stressful. Together, we will merge our resources to address these challenges in a safe environment by exploring patterns, processing events from the past, and creating plans for change in the future.

Changing something in your life is a tough process. I want to help you build the capacity for change you can maintain. We will work to understand why the world can feel so overwhelming, and how this negatively impacts the way you feel about yourself, the way you interact with others in relationships, and generally the way you move about spaces everyday. The impact may be a result of things that happened early on in life, traumatic events, relationship struggles, major life changes, substance use, or maybe it is because you are struggling with identity. These are all areas that I can help you with.

Accepting new clients! Let's be real, change and life transitions can be terrifying. Especially if they come about suddenly or unwillingly. Struggling with relentless panic, racing anxious thoughts, or paralyzing fear can impact your ability to show up in your life even in the most basic way. Whether your obsessions deal with contamination, checking, intrusive thoughts of harm, moral/religious scrupulosity, or anything else, OCD can often leave a person feeling isolated, trapped, and sometimes terrified of themselves. It can be incredibly overwhelming trying to navigate this all alone.

I see individuals 18+. My style both in session and in life is one of authenticity, humor, and empathetic directness. I believe in approaching one’s wounds and struggles with compassionate curiosity and remaining open to the idea that healing is a lifelong journey of evolving and getting connected with ourselves over and over as we navigate the many seasons of our lives. My work is grounded in Feminist and Attachment theory, and I believe that the power of a collaborative and client autonomy focused therapeutic relationship is the foundation upon which healing is facilitated.

It can be overwhelming to try and to deal with the stress of everyday life while carrying the weight of unresolved stress. In time, that stress can cause us our perspectives towards others and how we feel about our lives to change. This is typically when people seek treatment to work through that stuck feeling, to pursue more meaningful lives that aren't weighed down by stress or their experiences. I work to create a calm, accepting atmosphere so that clients can more easily speak their experiences into existence and let go of the stress that keeps them stuck.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
