The best way to describe my treatment approach: unconventional. There aren't very many life circumstances that I have not experienced; I do not judge. With me, you have a safe space to explore; a space to delve deep into the person you are now, how you became this person and who you wish to become. What is your dream life? Are your relationships fulfilling? What life do you want for your children? Why haven't you forgiven yourself? Lets talk; revisiting our pain is difficult but, necessary.

Through a warm but firm approach, I help families with Parent-Child Interaction Therapy ( PCIT) through parent coaching.
Children with challenging behaviors impact every aspect of the entire family’s lives. Temper tantrums, physical and verbal aggression, attention seeking, and defiant behaviors wreak havoc on families. Parents and caregivers feel like they’ve tried everything to improve a child’s behavior and may feel the situation is hopeless and fear for the child’s future.

Together, we will calm conflicts, build empathy and support, and create healthy parent-child relationships.
At times, parenting can feel like you are just trying to survive each day. There can be tension, anxiety, depression, trauma, and conflicts about even the smallest issues. You can have sleepless nights spent worrying and wishing you could support each other in better ways. Trying to navigate co-parenting or begin a co-parenting relationship after a divorce or separation can create added stress. You want the best for your family, but you don’t always know what to say, what to do, or where to go next. You know that something has to change.

Are you struggling to find peace? Do you feel destined for more? I believe that each of us is born with a life purpose and when we are not in alignment with that energy we can feel stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, uncertain, and even depressed. Together, we will explore the past, examine the present, and manifest a future that you’ve always desired. A few simple shifts in your awareness is often all that is needed to change your perception and heal the parts of your life that you are presently struggling with. I will help you obtain clarity, find peace and balance, and discover or awaken parts of yourself that have yet to be explored.

Developing a contemplative and compassionate relationship with ourselves is fundamental to healing and well-being. Inequity, trauma and feeling alone or not understood can unsettle this fundamental relationship. What’s more, when we’re struggling to love ourselves, often we're also struggling in relationships with others. I offer therapeutic support drawing on a variety of approaches to promote a stronger sense of connection with self and others. I offer a safe and accepting space to all identities. I aim to be an actively engaged, warm, and a mindfully attuned collaborator in the therapeutic process.

My ideal client is ready for lasting change and is actively engaging in their therapeutic journey. They're open to discussing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These clients may be looking for understanding and support without judgment. A client who is committed to meaningful goals and willing to invest time and effort into personal growth is awesome to work with. An ideal client may seek guidance on coping with their own challenges or personal decisions but is open to embracing new perspectives. An ideal client of mine is willing to invest time and effort into their own personal growth.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists

Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?

PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?

PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?

In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
