Art Therapy in Philadelphia, PA
When supporting people, I combine my training in art therapy with my education in psychodynamic, attachment and relational theories to help bring about growth.
As a queer white woman, I aim to support clients who share intersecting identities and incorporate my values of anti-oppression into my therapeutic practice. In session, I strive to learn from my client’s own wisdom and work in tandem with them to explore whatever may be showing up that day. I have a calm, compassionate, and curious personality, that presents itself in the form of empathic listening, thoughtful question asking, reflective summarizing, and knowledge/resource sharing.

These options are catered to each person and their comfortability, no prior art experience is necessary.
After years of feeling "out of body" you may feel like you've exhausted all your options. Maybe talk therapy hasn't worked for you in the past but you want to find relief and are not sure where to turn. You may have experienced emotional neglect, abuse or exploitation (as a child and/or as an adult) and feel overwhelmed at processing it all. Whether you're newly on your own or have been independent for a while you feel ready to adjust how you engage with your internal and the external world.

My approach to therapy is highly collaborative, and sessions include time for art-making, creative writing, and/or building from any other creative outlets you may have.
Are you looking for new ways to gain perspective and examine your life, access the healthiest version of yourself, and get in touch with your sources of inspiration and meaning? If you're struggling to connect with your health, happiness, creativity and motivation, you don't have to go it alone. Life may feel overwhelming, chaotic, and difficult to navigate, but it doesn't have to be this way. Together, we can identify and address areas for change and growth while celebrating and nourishing your strengths, so that you feel clear, calm, and empowered.

As an art therapist in training, I can use art making and creative expression in addition counseling to further support clients to feel empowered and develop a visual narrative of their progress.
I'm passionate about working with the LGBTQAI+ community and bringing more queer joy and comfort to the world! I intend to create a collaborative relationship with my clients, allowing myself to learn with them as we work to support their specific goals and needs. My clinical experience so far has allowed me to work with a wide range of clients, from toddlers to older adults, spanning many backgrounds and intersectional identities. I have experience supporting clients with medical anxiety, depression, and social adjustment. I hope to aid the communities I hold close to me and empower my clients to make progress toward their goals.

Art therapy supports self-reflection, expression, insight, repair, and meaning making in therapy and more importantly in your life beyond therapy.
I know starting therapy can be hard. I hope sharing about who I am as a therapist helps clarify if I feel like a good fit for you. Therapy is a relationship that centers you. I view connection and authenticity as strengths. I will take you and your needs seriously while celebrating your joy. I center consent and empowerment, depathologize responses to harm (systemic or otherwise), and value lived experience. I am non-judgmental, interested, understanding, and trust your self-knowledge. I show up attentively, with warmth and care. I believe in those I work with and am excited for what you will create for yourself.

As an art therapist, I value the innate creativity within each person, viewing art not only as a means of communication but also as a vehicle for self-discovery and growth. I approach healing through a feminist lens, recognizing and addressing the intersectional dynamics that influence mental health. I integrate CBT, mindfulness techniques, and talk therapy, tailoring my approach to meet your individual needs. Recognizing the potential intimidation and anxiety associated with therapy, I prioritize fostering a warm, non-judgmental environment where humor is not just welcomed but embraced.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in a person-centered, strengths-based perspective, enriched by techniques from CBT and Art Therapy.
Life is a journey of joys and challenges that shape who we are and how we view the world. Sometimes, these challenges become overwhelming, affecting our well-being and disrupting important aspects of our lives. Therapy offers a chance to step back from daily life and create a space for self-exploration and growth. It’s a time to pause, reflect on your experiences, and make sense of what has shaped you. I’m committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions without fear of criticism or misunderstanding.

As an LMFT with specialized training in art therapy, I believe that art provides opportunities to explore unspoken feelings, needs, and memories that may be hard to verbalize.
My clients present a spectrum of needs including navigating substance use, relational distress, chronic health issues, and productivity burnout. Often I assist clients interested in exploring impacts of capitalism, social disenfranchisement, and unhelpful narratives that can create negative self-talk, feelings of hopelessness, and existential anxiety. I identify as part of the queer community and work to support LGBTQIA clients in connecting to community, establishing boundaries, and exploring internalized messages that can impact self-esteem, communication skills, and destructive patterns.

Reaching out to talk is the best first step in telling your story and if talking is hard, lets try some Art, Music, Poems or other expressive techniques.
Today's life struggles are much different than yesterdays. On top of average everyday obstacles of navigating a busy life, raising a family, and making ends meet, were faced with political tensions, health concerns, and morals/values that we've never thought of before. Amongst all these stressors, I relate and empathize with this journey were on together. I enjoy helping today's transition-aged youth (late teen to early adult) learn to slow down in the midst of society's business, learn to enjoy this journey, find meaning in their experiences and find their way through life's difficulties, relationships and career paths.

In addition to conventional talk therapy, I also offer art therapy, a non-verbal avenue for expression and insight than what is often accessible through words alone, as well as EMDR, a relatively rapid treatment that helps to access, process and resolve traumatic experiences that contribute to current problematic behaviors and beliefs.
You may have landed here because you've found that your current way of operating in this world is no longer serving you and are seeking to change some of the patterns that have brought you to this moment. Or maybe you seek closure for past harms, losses or regrets, wishing to make sense of these experiences, and realize that there's no time like the present to get started. In my clinical practice, I work primarily with adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems and trauma-related disorders. I am also LGBTQ-affirming and sex positive.

Through the use of movement, dance, breathwork, play, art, and role-playing, we teach kids skills that will set them up for lifelong success.
The phone rings- your heart skips a beat. It's your child's school again. Your kid hit another kid, refused to do their work, or didn't answer when the teacher asked them a question. You are desperate to not have this be another game of "let's see how long Jonny can last at school". It feels like your kid is constantly put on a Performance Improvement Plan (who knew those started so young?!) You've tried to talk to your child about "using gentle hands" "speak up when you need something" or "ask to take a break". While it seems that your kid hears the message, something gets lost in transition when they are back at school.

We have the capacity to express ourselves beyond just talking about our experiences and feelings. It is in our innate nature to access other ways of processing that utilizes art as a language. Cambridge Dictionary defines " art"- a noun synonymous with expression, as: "the making of objects, images, music, etc. that are beautiful or that express feelings". Still Emerging Expressive Arts Therapy offers an unconventional approach to therapeutic work, utilizing various forms of expression, including: visual art, movement, writing and sound. No skill is necessary, just a deep longing and desire to express yourself free of judgment.
