You're tired of feeling like your experiences are minimized and being told you're "using it as an excuse." You're mentally and physically exhausted from always feeling "other". You want to FINALLY be able to open up and talk about ALL of the pieces of your life because you can't continue carrying all of this shit around, but you're terrified of being judged. You know you engage in unhealthy patterns of behavior and self-talk, but you just can't seem to stop. You have "checked off the box" that you're "in therapy" in the past, but you need to do something different this time.

Expert in treating: depression; depression & substance use and/or anxiety; depression & life transitions (e.g., divorce, careers, menopause). I am the creator of the LiveWell Program, which has helped thousands of people learn to reduce their own symptoms and relapses of depression, and to increase wellbeing. (Philly Magazine named LiveWell the “best place to heal.”) In individual therapy, I take a strength-based, hoIistic, and pragmatic approach to change; and draw on various modalities to meet the unique needs of each client, such as cognitive behavioral, mindfulness-based practices, and communication/interpersonal skill-building.

Are you currently struggling with life as you know it. Does your day-to-day feel overwhelming and at times really lonely? Do you want those things that matter most to you in life to feel more fulfilling? I know the idea of doing something different can be scarry and challenging but also necessary to move forward. It is my desire to help you develop ways to exchange your current stress for strength. My approach to therapy is simple. A dialogue between two people, building a trusting relationship, establishing a space for healing and growth.

Does it feel selfish or wrong to choose what's best for you instead of what's best for others? Do you struggle to feel good enough? If so, you may find yourself engaging in behaviors like people-pleasing, perfectionism, and over-functioning to prove your worth. Communication is where underlying relationship issues tend to show up. So, whether you're seeking individual or couples therapy, I will help you develop a deeper understanding of these issues to greatly improve your life and your relationships.

It's extremely isolating trying to manage everything you are dealing with. No one gets it, even though they say they do, which is infuriating and only makes you feel more isolated. You are becoming a pressure cooker and can't continue to hold it all on your own, but you have no idea where to start. (And "starting" sounds terrifying in and of itself.) "Avoiding" has been the route you take, but it's becoming harder and harder to keep things from coming to the surface. You need a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can FINALLY let it ALL out, not just the parts that feel most comfortable. This can be that place.

Therapy offers the space to process emotions and experiences, develop a relationship with yourself, and gain insight. It is my goal to create a space for you to explore these areas, and to develop a therapeutic alliance that instills hope and encourages confidence. With a background in recreation therapy, I utilize a psychodynamic approach rooted in attachment theory, and primarily use schema therapy and behavioral interventions.

I am very passionate about working with people of color and those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. My goal as a therapist is to help clients connect to their own personal voice, strengths and resources to begin the process of reconstructing their personal narrative. Trust and safety is what I bring to the room. These are vital factors in facilitating change. Within the therapeutic realm, each client can feel empowered to make healthy and constructive choices that will navigate them on their road to recovery.

You are someone who is fed-up, tired and a little pissed off about feeling stuck. In your emotions, in your trauma, in a relationship, in a job that you hate, in a body that you hate... I want to help you attend to yourself, process and move forward from that which no longer serves or nourishes you. You don’t want to feel as though you’re simply going through the motions, but that you can find meaning and enjoyment in your existence. I am passionate about helping others become the version of themselves they feel proud to show off and show up for. I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming and racial-justice oriented therapist.
