Currently accepting new clients! As a queer, trans, non-binary human I will offer my lived experience and clinical expertise where appropriate to provide a safe and affirming space. Not only for queer people, but anyone who has ever felt alone or ‘other’. I became a therapist because I know how hard it was for me to find a queer-competent and affirming mental healthcare provider when I needed it the most. I specialize working with people who struggle with complicated thoughts and feelings surrounding sexual health & wellness, intimacy, desire, sexuality, gender identity, trauma, and non-monogamous relationships.

It's extremely isolating trying to manage everything you are dealing with. No one gets it, even though they say they do, which is infuriating and only makes you feel more isolated. You are becoming a pressure cooker and can't continue to hold it all on your own, but you have no idea where to start. (And "starting" sounds terrifying in and of itself.) "Avoiding" has been the route you take, but it's becoming harder and harder to keep things from coming to the surface. You need a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can FINALLY let it ALL out, not just the parts that feel most comfortable. This can be that place.

I like to help people explore their patterns in life and discover ways to become a happier, healthier, more grounded person. Feelings and experiences may be keeping us stuck. I provide a safe space to understand and express these feelings, offer tools how to work with feelings and thoughts, and then help clients discover their interests and path forward. Therapy may be helpful to deal with a difficult event or a way of living. I help my clients to navigate a better, more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I am Mark, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Philadelphia, holding licenses in both Pennsylvania and California. With 20 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to helping children and families navigate the challenges that impact their health and happiness. Most of my career was spent working for a nonprofit agency that serves trauma-impacted children and families in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through this work, I have come to understand both the grave impact of trauma and the healing power of psychotherapy.

My goal as a therapist is to create an environment, and to foster a relationship in which my clients feel seen, heard, and safe to express their full range of emotions. Life is complicated, and much of the time people are burdened with meeting others’ expectations; in my practice I hope people feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable, and entirely themselves. Once our relationship is fostered through trust, honesty, and safety, a client and I will unpack and process negative self-beliefs, explore the importance of past and present relationships, and implement strategies to promote long term wellness.

While I'm open to who comes to me, I have found myself working mostly with adults—primarily men, both straight and gay—who are navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, life transitions, or relationship difficulties. They may feel stuck or overwhelmed and are seeking to understand the deeper emotional roots of their struggles. Their goal is to gain insight into patterns that may be holding them back and to develop healthier ways of coping. They want to find authenticity in their lives, overcoming self-defeating thoughts and behaviors to achieve personal growth and a more fulfilling life.

I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD using a relational lens. My therapist vibe is "professional friend" and while we will explore heavy, painful topics, therapy is not going to be a huge bummer the whole time. We will joke, we will riff, we will come up for air. No matter what you're going through, or have faced in the past, I sincerely believe that healing is possible and would be honored to support you on that journey.

We are living through a collective trauma. This rapidly shifting sociopolitical environment raises existential concerns, challenges security, and calls priorities into question.
