I draw upon the commonly known evidenced-based modalities (CBT, ACT, MI) but I mostly enjoy working somatically (the body and nervous system) and “parts” (internal family systems).
People are so sick of holding their tongue, wearing costumes, and being inauthentic when navigating social relations. To me, therapy is a place to say the thing and acknowledge the parts of us that many won’t see or hear. The freedom that follows from that experience alone can make all the difference. My hope for our therapeutic relationship is to make space for all of that and more.

I provide a place that is safe for my clients to share their thoughts and feelings by showing them that they will be received with compassion and acceptance.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I work with individuals and families. My specialties include working with children who have ADHD and explosive behaviors, teens and adults who have symptoms of anxiety and depression, and adults facing life transitions including empty nesters and career and marriage transitions. My clients have found my support helpful in gaining insight into the life they want to create and in developing the skills needed to incorporate change. Since relationship is key in finding success, we establish a foundation of trust and compassion so there is safety in beginning this journey together.

Feel free to cont act me and we can go from there.
Congratulations on taking the crucial step of searching for a therapist. It’s often the hardest part of the journey—navigating through numerous profiles to find someone who feels right, who will listen, and who you can trust. Everyone needs connection and support at different points in their lives, and you've just made a significant move toward finding that. I work with clients who are seeking to change the things they cannot accept and to find peace with the things they cannot change. Together, we’ll explore your challenges and aspirations, aiming for meaningful progress and acceptance.

Some of these styles include CBT/DBT, MI, trauma-informed, and ACT.
Seeking help and support is a sign of personal strength, not an admission of weakness. However, this is not the message we always receive from those around us. Engaging in therapy can be a scary thing to sign up for. I take this into account when meeting with my clients. I believe in providing my clients with a sincere effort to build a therapeutic relationship by getting to know each person and providing professional, honest feedback to move forward towards their personal growth. I believe in addressing personal goals and checking in on where the client’s mindset is, as life tends to throw us unexpected changes at unexpected times.

I use science-based approaches like CBT, ACT, PCIT, HRT, and DBT.
Accepting new clients. Navigating mental health challenges can be overwhelming. Does your teenager need strategies to handle anxiety, depression, ADHD, or tics/Tourette Syndrome? Does your toddler need help with sleep, behavior, tantrums, toileting, or eating? Does your child need help adjusting to big changes: a new school, problems with friends, divorce, or a new and confusing medical diagnosis like diabetes, epilepsy, or migraines? Or perhaps you just need a place to talk, process, and grow? I have helped families navigate these challenges and more, creating space for positivity, warmth, gratitude, flexibility, and bravery.

Within my training as a therapist, I have worked with various communities: college students, first-generation college students, BIPOC folks, Asian Americans, and community mental health settings. I can speak and conduct therapy sessions in English, Urdu, and Pashto. I enjoy working collaboratively and helping individuals develop healthy coping skills and enhance their strengths in order to develop a toolkit that can be utilized outside of therapy. I use techniques such as Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and ACT.

I use a combination of Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) all through the lens of trauma-informed care.
In my own life, I have experienced the power of therapy as a queer and neurodivergent human. Now as a therapist, I provide an affirming space that allows my clients to accept all parts of themselves and celebrate their identities. I know the vital importance of being affirmed for who you truly are in a safe space. I help people struggling with navigating a world that feels like it's not built for them. Whether it's working through chronic pain or illness, anxiety, trauma, or changing your relationship with substances, I can help you develop resiliency and experience post-traumatic growth to live your most meaningful life.

My approach is let us chat and let you determine, based on initial cont act, your comfort level.
My name is Susan. I have been practicing, in Pennsylvania for 25 years. I have my LCSW. The bulk of my career was spent in an atypical long term care facility. Clients ranged from 18 to 100 with a myriad of mental health challenges. In this setting, I provided one to one therapy and facilitated groups. Group work consisted of anger management, chronic illness and improving interpersonal skills. Going into private practice, my role in the partnership is the provision of a judgment free environment where we can strategize, addressing and overcoming the many challenges we all face.

Does any of this sound like you? You're exhausted, anxious and stuck. Life feels overwhelming and no matter what you do, you don't feel good enough. It feels like everyone except you has it "together". Maybe you have all you wanted on paper but it you don't feel fulfilled. You beat yourself up, drink too much or are stuck in the cycle of trying the newest Tiktok welllness trend, hoping this will make you feel better. It's not working and you wonder if you will ever feel happy and content. It's time for a change.

Have you always felt different from others? Might you be more than just shy and introverted? Do you have intense passions and special interests? Do you have sensory differences? If you are open to the possibility that you are autistic, a formal evaluation can be a big step in self-awareness and a lens to understand your life experiences. You could also be eligible for accommodations at work or school. I specialize in diagnosing and treating adults and teens with autism spectrum disorders. I have a distinctive voice and perspective as a psychologist and father of an adult son with autism. Check out my blog, www.drrobertnaseef.com.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
