Our wounds, losses, and trauma can trap us in painful patterns of avoidance, anger, fear, sadness, guilt, and shame.
Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

Thirty years of clinical practice experience treating anxiety disorders, trauma, grief and depression, using CBT.
It has been estimated that 3.3 to a reported high of 6 million people suffer from OCD in the US. OCD, in particular, continues to be misdiagnosed and as a result is often treated ineffectively. Using primarily CBT, ACT, E/RP and mindfulness based treatment my goal is to help you manage these debilitating conditions with empirically based strategies, helping you gain the means to get back on the path of your true potential and lead a life that is worth living. We can work together to effectively manage your OCD, anxiety, depression or grief in a way that supports living a life that you value.

I have additional expertise in ADHD, attachment, grief, and chronic pain.
Availability THIS week. We can all agree that life is hard! Needing support does not mean you are weak or broken; it simply means you're human. The most honest thing we can do when the demands of life outweigh our capacity to cope is to reach out for support. Kudos to you for embarking on this brave (and potentially daunting) journey! As a therapist, I aim to create an emotionally safe and supportive environment where you can be your true self. I also enjoy utilizing the therapeutic benefits of laughter to alleviate fears and foster a sense of safety and trust. My ultimate goal is for you to feel seen, understood, and supported.

My specialization lies in providing compassionate and understanding support to mothers who are coping with grief and loss related to children with special needs.
Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm. and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn how to swim - Vicky Harrison. As a licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am deeply committed to helping individuals find healing and resilience in the face of life's complexities. However, my passion truly comes to life in my work with mothers who are walking a path less traveled. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
