You may have landed here because you've found that your current way of operating in this world is no longer serving you and are seeking to change some of the patterns that have brought you to this moment. Or maybe you seek closure for past harms, losses or regrets, wishing to make sense of these experiences, and realize that there's no time like the present to get started. In my clinical practice, I work primarily with adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship problems and trauma-related disorders. I am also LGBTQ-affirming and sex positive.

I believe that therapy is a partnership where the therapist facilitates the change and growth that a client seeks to make. I assist people in developing self-worth and self-awareness. I also work with clients to establish boundaries and recognize barriers to success and happiness such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and overall negative patterns of thinking. Once someone learns to love and accept themselves, it becomes easier to have healthy interpersonal relationships.

My areas of interest include: stress management, life adjustments, relationships, anxiety, depression, PTSD, building self-esteem/body image, addressing suicidal thoughts/urges, using mindfulness based approaches, working with clients who are adopted, and exposure-based interventions.
Coming to therapy is a big decision: sometimes we know right away what we want to focus on; other times, it takes a while to find what it is we want to discover about ourselves. I value taking the time to build a relationship with my clients that allows them to feel like they are the leaders of their own treatment. As a clinician, my goals are your goals. You set the stage in our sessions, and I am the one who helps guide you to where you need to be. I believe in building a therapeutic relationship that allows for openness, understanding, trust, and empathy; and the best and most effective clinical work happens when you feel safe.

You are in a season of transition and you feel stuck in knowing what is the “right” step to take first. Overthinking is causing anxiety and self doubt has you questioning yourself. You no longer want to allow comparisons, pleasing, and perfectionism to stop you from living your life on your terms. You know you want more for yourself. You acknowledge that you deserve more. More fulfillment, joy, meaningful connections, and satisfaction. You are ready to unapologetically live your best life as your authentic self.

Over the past decade with individual, group and family therapy, my work with youth and adults has focused primarily on trauma, anxiety, self injurious behaviors, emotional regulation, parenting challenges, family stressors, and intimate partner abuse.
Something brought you to this site today. Whether you're in the thick of a crisis, stuck in unhealthy patterns, haunted by past traumas, or wrestling with anxiety...you're here. Stress and suffering can have massive effects on relationships, mood, health, and everyday life. Feeling stuck can be so lonely, Feeling overwhelmed is exhausting. Being flooded with racing thoughts can leave you feeling hopeless. In therapy we can't make life stressors go away, and we can't undo the hurt you've experienced. But we can work together to make sense of your past, stay centered in the moment, and move forward confidently into your future.

Although I have experience working with depression, anxiety, self-harm, grief, trauma, suicide, loneliness, and identity exploration, I am open to working with any presenting concern.
I hope to collaboratively explore the layers of your inner world by building a safe-enough space through our relationship. Therapy can be (and is almost always) a painful and vulnerable experience, yet also immensely rewarding. My therapy process seeks to identify how all internal and external forces throughout our life shape who we are and how we navigate the world today, to enact change. Non-judgmental curiosity and compassion are essential in this process. I primarily practice from a trauma-informed, relational psychodynamic lens, but often integrate components of CBT, humanism, somatic awareness, and family systems theory.

Most of us at one time or another encounter difficulties with others or ourselves. These difficulties can result in anxiety, depression or other symptoms, the treatment for which often is therapy. Therapy can be challenging in that it requires work to understand our emotions and our inner selves. Therefore I believe therapy is best conducted in an atmosphere of support, compassion, warmth and humor. My goal is to provide such an environment in which we are working together

Are you feeling overwhelmed or overworked? Do you have trouble connecting to your feelings? Even when you do, it’s hard to pinpoint what they are? If you’re feeling depleted from working hard, keeping everything together, then this is the perfect time to change the relationship with yourself and others. This might mean addressing traumatic and/or distressing experiences, working through grief, exploring relational and attachment difficulties, or managing anxiety or depressive symptoms differently.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
