I utilize DBT and CBT interventions with intentionality; and I will always strive to cultivate and maintain a safe and compassionate therapeutic environment.
I am rooted in an approach that predominantly pulls from existential-humanistic and psychodynamic psychologies. I believe that the client is the expert of their experience, and that their experience within the present can be connected to their experience of the past – creating and maintaining particular dynamics between the self and others. I also use the therapeutic relationship to inform the work – providing for corrective emotional experiences and empowering my clients to strive for the embodiment of an authentic self.

I commonly integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy and strength-based approaches into my sessions.
It takes courage to reach out for assistance, I want to applaud you for your bravery and willingness to invest time in yourself. I am passionate about working with people to set goals that are meaningful to them and feel achievable. I strive to meet each client where they are at when they walk in for each session and create a safe, non-judgmental environment where we can explore life challenges. I hope that as a team, we can strengthen coping skills, problem-solving abilities and create a future that is more in line with your values.

I typically utilize DBT ( Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) when I work with people experiencing mood disorders or personality diagnoses.
Shame dies when stories are told in safe places. Your story matters. Experiencing trauma can make us feel alone, ashamed, & burdened with self-doubt. When you take the brave step toward therapy and healing, you no longer have to do that alone. I work to hold a safe space so that each person who comes to me is able to openly share their story while learning how to access the tools to heal all wounds that they carry. I use Internal Family Systems as an approach to work on the root of pain and to help clients heal. I am certified in DBT therapy to help individuals regulate their emotions and build skills to navigate relationships.

Entering therapy is an act of self care that takes courage. It is an opportunity to take pause and honor who we are and how we got here. My approach is to encourage clients to dig deep into what it means to be happy, content, and fulfilled. This process is as much about the questions as it is the answers. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand themselves and their relationships, build insight and distress tolerance, and to develop a "toolbox" to better communicate and relate with their loved ones. Combined, this results in a refined awareness of self and a deeper permission to feel, change, and grow.

My practice is dedicated to assist individuals, couples, and families by empowering them to overcome adversities. Entering therapy is a step in demonstrating strength and resiliency. I have an appreciation for this strength and consider it an important part of the therapy process. I approach each client with respect on where they are at the time when entering therapy. When personal growth is felt and experienced it can be rewarding and life altering. It is my intention and responsibility to be an active listener, give thoughtful and educational input for growth and healing at the pace and needs of each client.

I believe everyone holds the key to access their most genuine, authentic self. Navigating through this thing called life can be complicated and challenging. Working together, I aim to provide a safe space to explore your inner strengths and capture internal resources. Through my experience working with anger, anxiety, and depression, I've learned that the strongest factor in therapy is the collaborative relationship. Together, we can address the issues you identify as problematic in your life. I promise to provide a therapeutic space that allows you to reclaim your strengths and propel you towards your self chosen path.

If the voice in your head was a person, would you like them very much? It is my strong belief, and confirmed by research, that many people who struggle with feeling of anxiety and depression also struggle with a negative inner voice that keeps you from reaching your potential.

Quoted by Virginia Satir: "As a therapist, I am a companion. I try to help people tune into their own wisdom". This quote encapsulates my opinion of therapy, and I view myself as a companion to assist clients through their own feelings, issues, events, or behaviors. Offering an individual a space to just be heard, and provide them with constructive feedback is an empowering and validating experience! Over the past 13 years I have worked with individuals experiencing many different situations such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma, bipolar, personality disorders, and more. Let's start this journey today!

I use a combination of approaches suited to each client's unique needs: CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Art Therapy.
I believe in the philosophy of Resilience; a trait we are not born with but all have the ability to develop. In addition to processing past and present issues; I also focus on building coping skills and strategies to maintain wellness: "Life doesn't get easier we become more resilient. Each choice and challenge increases our knowledge and strength".

I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness and strength-based techniques to help people develop strategies to manage these life situations.
Life can be overwhelming at times. There are many things pulling at us from all directions - family, children, work, other people - that we lose ourselves in the process. Are you trying to find out who you are and what your purpose is? Have you been trying to please others and neglecting yourself? These can contribute to a suffering that comes out as anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, low self-esteem, or just a general dissatisfaction with life. I believe we are meant to find meaning for our lives, fulfillment in what we do and happiness in our relationships. I can help you discover this person that you are meant to be.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
