No matter what background we come from life tends to bring its own suffering and difficulties. I view therapy as a place where challenges and painful emotions can be confronted in a safe and caring environment. My personality is warm and empathetic, and I aim to provide a place where clients feel heard, cared for, and listened to. I view clients as being the author of their own lives. Thus, I aim to be collaborative and to help come up with goals that are important and meaningful to you. My style is action oriented, and I try to push clients out of their comfort zones, through the use of mindfulness and behavioral changes.

For me, to live is to feel loved and connected. From my perspective, almost every mental health ailment is born from that feeling being fractured or broken. As a physical break of the bone requires care in order to heal, so too do we deserve support in emotional healing. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), having received my Masters degree in Community and Trauma Counseling through Jefferson University, I diagnose and treat the people I work with through a social context and strength-based approach. Individuals, couples and families are all welcome here.

Feeling overwhelmed can be isolating, but you don't have to face it alone. When I am invited to journey in a therapeutic process with you, I facilitate steps to uncover the barriers to connection with self, tap into your inner wisdom, and discover the answers you may be searching for. This develops a greater trust in self, cultivating and stengthening self connection, and living more authentically and fully. From my heart-centered stance, I see clients as whole beings, not defined by their trauma. This helps us address challenges while staying connected to their strengths, resilience, and capacity to move toward their desired life.

Trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, has been keeping you from your life. Your negative self-talk is hard on you. Everyone can be hard on themselves. It’s exhausting trying to anticipate when these feelings will come back again. You can’t trust your own thoughts. It could be that your painful past or current stress isn’t going away on its own. On most days it takes more than that. Feeling stuck in a vicious cycle with no end in sight, you know you can’t handle this alone anymore. Maybe something happened, something very upsetting occurred, and it changed you. You’ll feel calm You’ll breathe again!

Do you find yourself exhausted by the overthinking of your decisions and interactions? Feeling unheard or misunderstood by your partner(s), family, or colleagues? Are you tired of feeling stuck? It is possible to feel at ease and connected to yourself and within your relationships. Although it may be a challenge to believe that when living in a society that often asks more of us than we are able or willing to give. I want to help you find and implement the best way for you to identify and communicate your needs, limits, and desires to live authentically as yourself within your life and relationships.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking help with navigating life transitions. Sometimes, life gets very stressful and I believe it is helpful to have additional support during these times. My experience growing up in Eastern Europe has been instrumental in how I like to approach counseling from a multicultural viewpoint. I can provide therapy in Romanian and Spanish as well.

Congratulations on bravely stepping into therapy, perhaps even re-engaging w/ therapy after some time away, and/or asking for support in acknowledging that sometimes it is not helpful to navigate life and complications alone. Whatever your reason is, you have come to the right place if you are looking for a nonjudgmental, validating, gentle, and supportive therapist. My ideal client is someone who longs to become more aware of themselves, curious about what feelings/lack there of you may experience, open to working through active mental health struggles, such as self-confidence, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and more.

Welcome! I'm so glad you are taking a step to take care of yourself! Therapy is a place of refuge and solace; a place to slow down to take a closer look at what has not been fulfilling, what has caused pain, what has lingered and now surfaces as problematic. It's a place to address underlying relationship patterns, trauma, losses, etc. with compassionate support. It is ALSO a place to honor what you have become even in spite of what has left you feeling "stuck," anxious, lost, sad, overwhelmed, fearful, alone, etc.

Have you been stressed, sad, or hopeless about patterns in your most important relationships? It makes sense if you are struggling; humans are made to be close to loved ones, not disconnected! I work with parents, teens, and any aged adult that is having challenges because of issues in their marriage, family, school, work, or friendships. I encourage clients to work out relational patterns or cycles and gain more support where you need it- your natural environments. My goal is that we can co-discover more healthy relational dynamics so you need to talk with a therapist less and can lean on your natural supports more!

Experiential Therapy

How does experiential therapy work?

Experiential therapy works by allowing an individual to use their creativity to re-imagine themselves and their lives in an effort to process their emotions. Experiential therapy may take many forms, including engaging clients through art, re-enactments, role-playing, music, or forms of physical recreation. By focusing on these activities, experiential therapists help individuals identify the emotions they associate with previous experiences and work together to cope with negative reactions, like fear, anger, or shame.

Is experiential therapy evidence-based?

Experiential therapy incorporates many therapy modalities, some of which have been more closely researched than others. Music therapy, for example, has been shown to help with sleep problems. Some studies find that art therapy can be beneficial for those with eating disorders or personality disorders, while other research suggests that such approaches have little impact.

How long does experiential therapy last?

The duration of experiential therapy will depend on the type of therapy used as well as the severity of the challenges an individual faces. Play therapy sessions may last for 30 to 45 minutes, and usually occur weekly for about 20 sessions. Art therapy may comprise 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or on an as-needed basis. For each therapy type, clients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

Does experiential therapy help with trauma?

Trauma is one area where experiential therapy may be useful. Traumatic experiences such as combat or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating visual art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. Listening to music can be relaxing, while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. Play therapy is often of value to children who have experienced a loss or distressing family experience, or who have been physically or emotionally abused.
