I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a specific approach to treating stress and trauma.
Life is not easy and I believe most people would benefit from someone impartial to help navigate that uneasiness. I use a holistic approach to help individuals, couples and families with depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, stress, ADHD and a myriad of other issues and conditions. The goal of my practice is to create a collaborative relationship where people can identify goals, reduce stress, and find peace. My practice is designed to assist people in all circumstances: whether you need to address something that happened years ago, a recent life event, or you just want guidance on living your best life.

For all the conveniences and genuine marvels of the modern world, rates of stress, disease and mental illness continue to escalate, particularly in the wake of the collective trauma of Covid-19. Children, teens, and young adults have been especially hard hit. I work with individuals of all ages in diminishing feelings of alienation, fear, and hyper-reactivity and cultivating a sense of inner ease and well-being. Using play, talk and family therapy, we work together to understand the unmet needs underlying symptoms and figure out ways to address these needs via channeling the natural human instincts for growth and discovery.

I understand the struggles that result following trauma and I will diligently work with you to help you achieve your full potential.
I am a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of complex trauma and PTSD. I believe in creating a relatable and safe space to work through the toughest parts of our past. While some trauma is overt, such as PTSD, other traumas can be hidden behind depression or anxiety. Emotional traumas can even arise from being raised by parents or guardians with personality disorders. I have over 10 years of experience using EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic interventions to address various forms of trauma.

Much of my training is in the treatment of trauma, anxiety disorders, and family therapy.
I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, and family relationships. EMDR is one of many tools that I use to help people heal from past experiences and deal with overwhelming emotions. I am a licensed clinical social worker who provides individual and family therapy. I have experience with all ages, from young children to older adults. When working with adults, I especially enjoy working on resolving past trauma that seems to be impacting the way people feel about themselves or how they function in their relationships, and especially in parenting. In addition to therapy, I provide supervision to therapists.

However, I am a trauma informed provider with particular interest in working with folks whose early life experiences interfere with current day functioning.
I approach treatment as a collaboration between two partners, working together to deepen our understanding of your concerns, and construct alternative ways of thinking, being, relating and feeling. As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I consider our relationship an essential mechanism of change.

I have always felt deeply connected to the emotional experiences and sensitivities of others. I witness people feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated as they interact with and interpret both internal and external forces. My goal is to be a part of helping people feel safe and comfortable as they move through their healing journeys and personal growth. I believe with this safety, you can begin to explore what feels less safe, and move toward empowerment and healing. I believe in an integrative and systemic approach that blends cognitive and somatic practices with a trauma-informed lens to facilitate a holistic healing process.

I work well with clients who are interested in transformation. I have learned that in order to heal we need to attend to our core wounds. Therefore, I pay a lot of attention to the relational field, relational trauma and disconnect. I am deeply aware of the impact both social oppression and intergenerational trauma have on us and our communities. In addition, I believe that in order for us to be in our full power we need to become embodied. Therefore, a transformational treatment needs to be both relational and somatic. Despite being trained in very many Western therapeutic approaches I draw from other healing modalities.

I am most suited to help clients dealing with loss, prior childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, identity (in all its manifestations), divorce, self-esteem, grief, and emotional regulation.
I specialize in working with clients from the ages of 14 to adulthood, who are inquisitive, self-aware, and deeply motivated to understand themselves better, improve their relationships, move into a place of self-respect/love, and develop adaptive ways of coping, communicating, and problem-solving. I have worked for many years with children, teens, adults, and families dealing with trauma and change and searching for authenticity, often in a world that values the superficial. Therapy is a process of seeking meaning, managing change, letting go of what no longer makes sense for who we are and what we want, healing, and growing.

My passion is helping women who feel stuck in their lives! My clients often experience high levels of academic or professional success, but have a deep yearning for personal fulfillment. Or, self-doubt and "impostor syndrome" are holding them back from reaching their full potential. I approach therapy as a collaborative process that allows you to deconstruct negative self-perceptions, grow in confidence, break the cycle of people pleasing, and to heal the wounds of trauma in order to experience a healthy and fulfilling life.

In my years of practice, I have helped people with relationship and family conflicts, trauma and anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, gender, sexual and racial identity, parenting, managing stress and illness, learning to advocate for oneself, overcoming self harm, making peace with one's body and more.
In this culture of rapid change and distraction, the vital experience of having someone's undivided attention and compassion is precious. I'll help you slow down. Together we’ll make sense of who you are and how your experiences have shaped your relationships and your view of the world. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one you will ever have. Let's understand your particular ways of relating. I can help you feel at ease in talking about whatever is on your mind. We’ll pay attention to your mental and physical well-being and how the two connect. Being your authentic and healthy self is possible.

I am an intersectional, trauma informed clinician.
I see myself as a life consultant and partner in change. Clients working with me are tired of feeling stuck in behaviors or emotional ruts that don't afford them freedom to live well. Trying new things, taking risks and experimenting with new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving are all part of the coaching. The client who sees me is ready, willing and, even if a bit scared, ready to find a centered self. I work both through talk and experiential, intersectional models. I am proficient in helping folks with grief, anxiety, body image issues and most life transitions. Life is hard and support and challenge can make it easier.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
