I integrate several modalities including Psychodynamic Therapy, Body Oriented Psychotherapy, Mindfulness/Meditation, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing ( EMDR), and Spiritual Counseling (no matter your religious/spiritual orientation).
I’m interested in working with clients who are in search of deep emotional, mental, and spiritual healing. You can expect our sessions together to consider your past, and to process the impact of those experiences on your present day life. Almost everyone is impacted by distressing or traumatic events that inevitably occur throughout a lifetime, so those experiences will be explored and processed, as well. Our work together will be a blended effort of focusing on what is important to you, and my curiosity and guidance throughout your process.

This may include mindfulness, EMDR, poly vagal theory, art, and trauma resolution practices.
My work as a clinician is grounded in establishing a safe, supportive, and nurturing co-created environment. We all struggle at times and sometimes having help is necessary to find calm, balance, or growth. Each client brings their own unique strengths and challenges. Together we develop a plan to help you move toward your goals. My counseling is informed by my work with students with special needs, families in transition, my training in yoga and mindfulness, and my work with men and women who experienced domestic violence. I use a trauma informed, person-centered approach in which clients feel safe, heard, and valued.

I provide Existential, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Ketamine-Assisted therapies.
I do my best work with clients who are curious about themselves, have a good sense of humor, and are often at a significant transition point in their lives. Clients most often begin working with me around issues related to trauma, anxiety, or relational wounding and are seeking new ways to relate to themselves, others, and the world around them. My overarching goal in my work with clients is to help them move through the world with a greater degree of consciousness, courage, and compassion - whatever that may mean or look in their lives.

I also use EMDR to address traumas and underlying negative beliefs.
I work with a wide range of populations including neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ clients. My counseling philosophy is centered on a holistic approach that addresses life's challenges with self-compassion. I aim to deeply understand clients while giving them the information they need to understand themselves. From there, foster positive self-talk and esteem. Ultimately, I work to build resilience and create authentic connections in client's lives. We can identify important values and confront challenges with confidence and authenticity.

I am trained in EMDR, CPT, TF-CBT and other evidence-based modalities.
As a psychodynamic, trauma-focused therapist, I can help you process past experiences in a safe environment - working with you to calm the unwanted noise that is anxiety. I can also help you address and resolve the depression that too often obscures our truest selves. Perhaps you’ve experienced a major upheaval or maybe you’re grappling with more subtle, disruptive changes to your day-to-day functioning. Either way, such shifts can be destabilizing, causing us to question core beliefs and ask: Am I even on the right path? New traumas may unfold, and older ones may awaken but we still have a very real need to feel grounded.

Accepting new clients! I help people overcome difficulty and use it to grow and pursue a life of meaning and purpose. I use a collaborative, gentle approach that helps you connect with your intuitive sense of self and your intrinsic motivation to grow and do difficult things.

The behaviors and emotions of grief, loss, and trauma are complex. Healing in mind, body, and spirit can be accomplished through traditional and spiritual counseling as well as guided meditation, spiritual structure, and goal setting. When clients are experiencing an inability to move forward, find it difficult to come to terms with life, cannot balance emotions and spirit, are enduring high levels of anxiety and stress, and are recognizing that their energy levels and physical body strength are at risk, the counseling of Dr. Marshall, an experienced counselor who uses Judeo-Christian and Buddhist principles can help heal.

Unconditional Positive Regard is something that we are all deserving of. A lot of times, life becomes all-consuming, and not only do we feel a lack of acceptance from others; but many of us internalize our experiences in a way that keeps us from feeling confident. Self-Actualization is a fancy way to say "I love myself and I trust myself". It takes a lot of courage to step into the realm of discomfort and as for support - but it's not out of our reach.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
