When I work with children or adolescents, I am committed to also helping the parent or parents grow from the experience and enhance their relationship with their child.
I see problems as opportunities to grow whether I am working with a child, adolescent or adult, individually or in couples or family therapy, and whether it is a single symptom or incident, or long-standing difficulty that brings someone to therapy. I identify and help develop strengths as we explore and change thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationship patterns, and resolve difficulties that prevent someone from reaching their goals and creating a fulfilling life. My work with children involves helping them reach the appropriate developmental goals as they build the skills needed for life ahead.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family (LMFT) therapist working from a systemic lens through my virtual private practice. My philosophy is that through cultivating your relationship with yourself and by becoming the best, most developed version of yourself, you can engage in relationships - romantic, familial, and platonic - in deeper, more meaningful, and healthier ways. My hope is to facilitate you and/or you and your loved ones through this process by exploring what is keeping you stuck and discovering old patterns that no longer serve you.

Difficult experiences in childhood can linger on in adulthood as low self esteem, difficulties dating, and feeling like an imposter. Since completing my post doctoral fellowship training at the Judge Baker Guidance Center and Children's Hospital of Boston in 1983, I have provided therapy for children of all ages, for adults, and for families. For children, these regularly treated problems include fears of all kinds, toiling issues, compliance with parental requests and instructions, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and selective mutism. I regularly help teens and adults with anxiety, depressed mood, and relationship issues. I use couples and family visits to help with behavioral problems of preschool and elementary school age children, disagreements about parenting, and couples issues.

5 generation immigrant, parent, woman of color learning and unlearning alongside you and feel honored to be a part of the collaborative effort to reimagine all of humanity as liberated, abundant, and whole.
On the surface everything is “fine” but underneath are you feeling stuck in vicious cycles of anxiety, self-doubt, and disconnection? As an Asian-American therapist who sees the therapeutic relationship as a powerful instrument of change, I see therapy as a meaningful site to support the whole person move towards deeper wellness and inner connection. It’s a space where you are seen and accepted for who you are, where we can safely untangle generational wounds, shame, internalized invisibility, and find the courage to heal, expand, and tend to the messiness of life with greater clarity and connection.

I have successfully treated all kinds of anxiety disorders, helped my clients navigate relationship issues, and have seen many clients through major life changes, such as jobs, marriage, and parenting.
My clients come to me at a time in their life when they are feeling overwhelmed and realize it’s ok to get some help. They need to expand their repertoire of coping skills for anxiety and stress or figure out how to navigate a major life change, such as school, being in a new role at work, parenting a challenging child, dating or being in a romantic relationship, to name just a few examples. I also work with kids who are suffering from anxiety or sleep issues. All of my clients want to feel back to their best selves, know they can handle what life throws at them, and feel happy, successful, and fulfilled.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
