Thrive - don’t just survive! Help your brain and nervous system reset with sound therapy. When we live with chronic stress and trauma daily. Our nervous system can't rest and repair and gets out of balance, leaving us operating on emotions - anxious and overwhelmed. The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a powerful therapy designed to reset your nervous system through guided listening to filtered music. When all the parts of our system work together, we can sleep, concentrate, communicate, and navigate our emotions. This brain/body approach has become one of my go-to tools for clients looking to create a better life for themselves.

I enjoy helping clients who have experienced childhood trauma and are now facing difficulties in their adult relationships. I use a combination of therapeutic interventions, including EMDR trauma therapy and parts work, to support clients in healing and growing into their most vibrant, calm, and whole version of themselves. Anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and reactivity often stem from unresolved trauma that remains trapped in our bodies and minds. If we don’t address and treat it, it can continually affect our present-day relationships. You deserve to experience the peace that comes from healing.

Areas of interest & specialty include: Generalized anxiety & depression, spiritual & existential concerns, somatic & body-centered work, women’s issues, couples, creatives, helping professionals, HSPs, life transitions, grief & loss, relationships & sexuality, LGBTQ+ issues.
Three beliefs I hold that influence how I practice are 1) human beings are not problems to be solved 2) therapy is ultimately about relationship 3) the process itself is the solution. We humans are infinitely complex; we're full of opposition and paradox. Our culture pushes quick fixes and immediate answers, but lasting change rarely comes about when we work in this way. I'm interested in helping you come into fuller, richer, more conscious relationship with all of your moving and sometimes disparate parts. Together we will work from the inside out through a deep, relational process.

I use an integrative approach to counseling and psychotherapy to help meet the individual needs of each client. I understand that a strong therapeutic relationship, including a foundation of trust, is essential to the therapeutic process. Learning about my client and understanding the presenting issue(s), we work collaboratively to identify goals for therapy. A Treatment Plan, tailored to each client, involves a combination of cognitive, affective, behavioral, and somatic techniques. I draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful in resolving current and long-standing issues.

“I love my therapist, but we’ve hit a plateau,” potential clients often say when reaching out to me. Or they’re tired of being treated like they’re broken. If you’ve spent years in therapy and are ready to go deeper and experience profound shifts and lasting change, try mindfulness-based, somatic (body-mind) psychotherapy and inner parts work. In short time, most new clients say, “Wow, that was very different from what I expected!”—in a positive way. If you’re a highly sensitive person (HSP), empath, or old soul yearning to be truly understood and are ready to process more deeply and talk and analyze less, welcome!

Because no one therapy model works for all people, I like to integrate my training in bottom-up models (EMDR, Somatic Therapy) with models that provide concrete skills to promote an internal sense of safety and security (DBT, ACT).
Many of us go through life carrying limiting beliefs and behaviors that seem to sabotage our efforts to grow and connect with others. I believe these patterns are not disorders to be cured, but ways our mind and body have adapted to survive. For many, these patterns involve anxiety, depression, anger, and addiction. Our task in therapy involves identifying these ineffective patterns and collaborating to rewrite them, one small action at a time. This leads to growth, healing, and ultimately, self-acceptance.

I assist couples in reconciling the hurts of the past and moving towards shared unity and deeper intimacy. Some of the areas I specifically specialize in include: substance abuse, sexual addictions, anger, trauma, self injury, and LGBTQIA issues.

I have completed trainings in DBT and somatic therapy interventions.
I have lived experience with neurodivergence, depression, anxiety, and being in a plus sized body. I have experience working with the above as well as being trained in working with clients with BPD and clients who just feel like they need a safe space to discuss day to day life stressors. I stress to my clients that therapy is for everyone and there is no such thing as a "trauma olympics" where something is better or worse than others! I work with clients age 6+.

Utilizing Somatic Experiencing training, I am able to effectively help clients resolve past trauma.
I view therapy as an opportunity that clients create for self-exploration, healing, growth, and relationship enhancement. I strongly believe that at the heart of every successful therapeutic outcome is a trusting and supportive client-therapist relationship, and it is in that context that my clients are able to explore historical and developmental issues, and their overall sense of self.

With a focus on mind-body connection, I've practiced EMDR since 2015, using this in combination with Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems.
Choosing to pursue therapy can be daunting. It takes effort and intention, things that don't come easily when experiencing stress or crisis. I understand this and want to support you in the step you're about to take. Perhaps you'd like to consider the "why's" behind certain decisions, or connect better with significant people in your life. Maybe you're struggling to keep the lid on hurtful or damaging experiences.

Currently accepting new clients. I seek to create a safe space and do so with an energy of warmth, validation and humor. I support clients from a healing-centered approach to explore identity, manage stress and process trauma. In sessions we may explore early attachments, somatic techniques and other creative practices for self-reflection and self-regulation. I recognize that processing grief or pain are important aspects of growth and that we can be more responsive and vulnerable without collapsing. As a collaborator on your healing journey, I approach our work together with genuine curiosity and open-mindedness.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
