Hi, I'm Michael, and I'm here to help. We cannot predict or prevent life's challenges, but if we learn to navigate them successfully, we won't need to. I have over a decade of experience working with children and adults and helping them overcome the challenges they are facing. Using evidence-based counseling theories (such as attachment theory, CBT, and Existential therapy) and techniques (like mindfulness, behavioral activation, and thought stopping), I aim to equip you with skills for success in various life domains.

My name is Tamika Johnson-Ogbu and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma informed therapy, reality therapy and motivational interviewing. I have also earned a Masters in Divinity where I have received a solid knowledge of pastoral care and Christian counseling. My focus is on the whole person, body, soul and spirit. My aim is to help you regain a sense of hope for your life that is found in Jesus Christ.

You may need a listening ear and someone to give you another perspective. I enjoy helping adults affirm their identity and personality, find belonging, and process difficult emotions. I also offer Christian counseling, pre-marital counseling, and counseling to couples in their early years of marriage.

I view the Psychotherapy process as a team effort where we work together to work through your trauma or relationship problems. I love building a rapport with my couples to work through the healing process together.

It has been an honor to serve and be invited into countless lives that span across cultures and intersections of identity. I know that feeling bold, courageous, and empowered might be incongruent with what is felt when starting down this path. In fact, sad, tired, frustrated, or misunderstood might be more accurate. In either scenario, I intend to partner with you, and walk this path together. My training in marriage and family therapy has supported my understanding of individuals by seeing them from a systemic lens.

I have been working in the mental health field for the past 8 years and I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations in the field. I have a lot of experiencing working with youth and people who struggle with managing anxiety, depression, stress, family challenges, trauma, and substance use. I have had the opportunity to work with people in different settings like inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, community based treatment, schools , non-profit agencies, and occupational social work.

SMJ Consultants provides Individual, In-Home and Community services to individuals ages 2-21. SMJ Consultants uses Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. My service entails helping to assist individuals as they transition into an inclusive learning environment. We work closely with parents and assist them with advocating and becoming a voice for their children. I work with those experiencing mental health issues, trauma, and addictions. An ideal client would be someone who took suggestions and invested in their own healing. Their needs may include a mood disorder or behavior that they want to change. We would work on their thinking and how that impacts their behaviors. We would also look at their motivations and how to increase their motivations to make better decisions. The goal would be that the client would do what they learn in therapy while living their lives. They would no longer need me to help them through things and would be able to lean on their natural support.
