My experience encompasses working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, couples, trauma, and chronic mental illness.
Life is messy— a truth that can both exhilarate and challenge us. As we navigate the twists and turns of life, we need support, feedback, and to be seen and heard. I believe therapy offers the space and power to foster such healing, growth, and connection. My approach is grounded in the belief that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation needed for a successful therapeutic experience. As we embark on this journey together, I will strive to create an environment that is warm, fun, empathic, and non-judgmental; a space where you feel safe exploring and processing your lived experiences.

I am here to walk with you in a judgement-free, yet honest journey toward emotional safety. I am here whether you face anxiety, hard relationships, stress, or family tension.

***All clients are remote.*** Anxiety and depression affect so many of us every day. Spiraling thoughts, racing heartbeat, inability to sleep, feeling withdrawn at social events--these are just a few examples of how our anxiety gets in the way of our enjoyment and ability to live our lives. Anxiety and depression also increase our stress level and may prevent us from having healthy interactions with coworkers, friends, family members. Think of it this way: if our mind has us focused on the past or the future, how can we enjoy our present relationships??

I have worked with a variety of patient populations, including families, adolescents, young adults, and mid-life/older adults, dealing with various mental health concerns, but largely specializing in anxiety and mood disorders. I have extensive experience treating young adults, especially, having done clinical work in four different colleges in the Philadelphia area. I have also facilitated many young adult therapy groups over the years. Fundamentally, I believe that if people are able to learn to accept and like themselves and be less self-critical, many of their struggles with anxiety and depression will diminish significantly.

I focus on helping clients identify and process issues causing them distress or discomfort so they feel more joy and strength in their lives. I provide an authentic, supportive experience where clients feel safe to work issues without judgment, while learning and practicing new coping skills and increasing their sense of self worth. Clients say they feel supported, and understood working with me. My focus extends to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, codependency, trauma and all types of work life issues. I find EMDR the most effective modality but shift based on client needs.

Therapy can help lessen anxiety, stress, depression, and more.
Every person can benefit from having a positive and safe space to discuss their journey in life and therapy can offer that. Life can be overwhelming, scary and frustrating but with support and a good attitude it is possible to overcome! Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and general life changes can be hard to face, especially when a person feels alone in their journey. It can often feel like those closest to you do not understand and that you are an island, simply floating through life.

Hello! I'm Angela! I work with clients, who are ready to take the step into therapy, through compassion and non-judgement, when exploring symptoms of depression, anxiety, focus challenges, disordered eating, energy, mood, relationships, activity, and overall well being. I am a therapist who fully believes in and appreciates the mind-body connection, and how mental and physical health are magnificently intertwined. I avoid putting the symptoms my clients experience into silos, and have an eclectic and holistic approach that incorporates nutrition, sleep, movement, and personal history along with traditional psychotherapy.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
