I pull from a plethora of therapeutic modalities and techniques, though I have a strong base in Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Existential psychotherapy.
Trauma is stored mentally and physically inside of us. It isn’t something you can just "get over". You may try to forget it, but this only provides, at best, temporary relief. The path to healing is not through removing the pain of the trauma, but rather through understanding and developing a healthy relationship with it. This isn’t easy, and can often be long and frightening process, but it can lead to not only a reclaimed sense of self-worth, but a healthier and more fulfilling relationship with the world around you. If any of this resonates with you, we may work well together on your journey to healing and wholeness.

As an eclectic therapist, I use multiple techniques such as client centered, existential, trauma-focused, art therapy, CBT, and family therapy.
My ideal client would be someone who wants support and guidance to make sense of things that have happened to them in the past and who wants to invest in their overall healing and well-being to get more out of their current life. I welcome the opportunity to help clients who feel wounded and confused by mixed messages given by their family, school, churches, etc. as well as who may have lost their sense of direction and fulfillment in relationships, work, self-care, and faith. Clients would have a safe and nonjudgmental space to be themselves in order to reclaim who they want to be and to practice grace and self-compassion.

Areas of interest & specialty include: Generalized anxiety & depression, spiritual & existential concerns, somatic & body-centered work, women’s issues, couples, creatives, helping professionals, HSPs, life transitions, grief & loss, relationships & sexuality, LGBTQ+ issues.
Three beliefs I hold that influence how I practice are 1) human beings are not problems to be solved 2) therapy is ultimately about relationship 3) the process itself is the solution. We humans are infinitely complex; we're full of opposition and paradox. Our culture pushes quick fixes and immediate answers, but lasting change rarely comes about when we work in this way. I'm interested in helping you come into fuller, richer, more conscious relationship with all of your moving and sometimes disparate parts. Together we will work from the inside out through a deep, relational process.

Life can overwhelm you and feel out of control. Your life is unfulfilled. Your trust in God has dwindled and you feel passionless and weary. Worries and pressures have deadened your heart. Caring for others has lead to burn-out and lack of balance in your life. You have lost a grip of the dreams that once inspired you. Loss, disappointment, and betrayal hold you back from the life you always wanted and the confidence to grow in healthy relationships. You could join hundreds of individuals who have found hope, courage and boldness to enter life with fresh perspective and vision to become more fully who they were created to be.

You've come to know that you're not at peace and don't know where to begin with therapy in Lancaster, PA. The unhappiness and lack of peace has stirred up feelings and emotions within yourself. You've looked at your partner and wondered how you could make this work. Thoughts of how selfish they are have flooded your mind and you feel a loss of hope.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
