I actively incorporate a whole-person perspective including somatic therapy and spirituality to address my clients' concerns.
Are you living with the painful consequences of bad decisions and want more joy, ease, and fulfillment? Do you want to stop fighting and start cooperating, connecting, and communicating in your relationships? Maybe you feel frozen, on an emotional rollercoaster, or both depending on the day. Do you want to experience your emotions as supporting your richer more satisfying life? Are you feeling lonely and isolated, like no one gets you or even wants to? Would you like more mutually loving relationships where you are seen, heard, and treated with respect? Are you looking for an LGBTQ ally?

“I love my therapist, but we’ve hit a plateau,” potential clients often say when reaching out to me. Or they’re tired of being treated like they’re broken. If you’ve spent years in therapy and are ready to go deeper and experience profound shifts and lasting change, try mindfulness-based, somatic (body-mind) psychotherapy and inner parts work. In short time, most new clients say, “Wow, that was very different from what I expected!”—in a positive way. If you’re a highly sensitive person (HSP), empath, or old soul yearning to be truly understood and are ready to process more deeply and talk and analyze less, welcome!

I enjoy working with people in challenging transitions, who struggle with loss or suffering, or who want to overcome a vulnerability. My style is warm and collaborative. Let's talk about how I can help you achieve growth, meaningful change, and relief from distress. Each of us has, inside, the ability to heal and transform. You can focus these inner resources to move your life forward. The good news is that it's all right there, inside you.

I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the effectiveness of treatment when working with young children, pre-adolescents, and adolescents, especially when partnering with parents/guardians. It is vital to create an environment that supports skills to support the skills being learned within the relational context of therapy. Therapy is not about fixing a child/teen but rather changing the feedback loop that has become reciprocal in the interactions.

The scope of my practice encompasses treating those who experience Anxiety, Negative Beliefs about Self (worth, responsibility, power, choice, etc), Trauma, Body Image and Diet Culture, Life Stress, and Grief. Life can sometimes take hold of us and we feel like we have lost our grasp, I work to help those get a better hold on things again. My focus is on helping you find ways to heal and feel whole again. We often have a lot of unpacking we have to do to heal and feel lighter to move forward. I like to intertwine humor into the treatment experience.

It is a big decision coming to counseling. Most people do not like asking for help (me included). I hope that you will consider giving counseling a try. I will strive to make your experience more like a partnership or collaboration, as opposed to "asking for help." I will try to create a safe space and offer you unconditional support throughout your time within this partnership.

Are you struggling in a relationship and finding yourself stuck in a negative cycle with someone you love? Do you find that all your good intentions lead you further from connection? The closest relationship is where the biggest hurts happen because this person means so much to us. Often we are stuck in a cycle where there is no good move. We fight for our connection, and things blow up. We tuck away our pain, and we feel further apart. This feels like so much pressure, and often a hopeless place to be.

I have experience in many modalities, from CBT, DBT, EMDR, and somatic therapy approaches.
My ideal client aims to engage in an active partnership to build self-awareness and take action to make a change. I will give you feedback and challenge you, which is not everyone’s cup of tea! I work best with those suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelm, trauma, or emotional flooding. Many of my clients report that our work helped them shift from survival mode to a sense of thriving. I suggest homework; your progress is based on your willingness to practice. The ideal client for my strengths is someone who wants to learn and shift by discovering tangible skills and techniques they can use in their own lives.

With a focus on mind-body connection, I've practiced EMDR since 2015, using this in combination with Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems.
Choosing to pursue therapy can be daunting. It takes effort and intention, things that don't come easily when experiencing stress or crisis. I understand this and want to support you in the step you're about to take. Perhaps you'd like to consider the "why's" behind certain decisions, or connect better with significant people in your life. Maybe you're struggling to keep the lid on hurtful or damaging experiences.

Hello. I offer telehealth, in person and in home concierge sessions. Welcome to your journey towards healing. In my practice we look to understand. There is no judgment. You cannot get there before you get there or know something before you know it. We focus on releasing the dysregulation we carry so there is more room for joy. My process is to teach people about their nervous system, how and why we become dysregulated, for example anxious or depressed, and offer ways to self-regulate and release the dysregulation through EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and other supporting approaches.

I have two ideal clients. First, I enjoy working with children under 13 with a variety of challenges, but especially Autism, ADHD, trauma, and grief/loss. I help parents with managing challenging behaviors through periodic parent sessions, and enjoy utilizing play therapy with all ages. Second, I love working with neuroqueer individuals of any age: LGBTQ, autism, ADHD, and others. Unfortunately ableism, transphobia, and homophobia exists in our world, but I am committed to being a place of acceptance and safety for ALL marginalized communities.

Your love life has been feeling a little stale. The stress of the relationship is overwhelming. All you do is fight and argue. You don’t even know if you should stay or go at this point. They’ve been unfaithful and you’re unsure how to move past it and begin to trust again. The exhaustion from never having enough help around the house is so deep in your bones now. Then, he has the audacity to expect sex over a three minute chore that he didn’t even do right. She won’t stop nagging you over every little thing, and rarely puts out. Those step kids don’t act right!

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
