I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and formally trained in both Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently serving adults, children, adolescents and families in Pennsylvania. I have more than 10 years of experience providing therapeutic services to individuals and families across the lifespan. While I consider a person-centered approach to be central to my practice, one of my specializations is in that of cognitive behavioral therapy. I have deep experience working with adults, adolescents and children with mood and anxiety challenges utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques, in addition to supporting those who have experienced trauma or other adverse life events.

I am also a Licensed Behavior Specialist with 5 years of experience working with children and teens diagnosed with ADHD, ODD and ASD.
It’s not easy to face the problems alone. Struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship and family issues, parenting, or major life changes can be challenging. When you experience any of those problems, you might need someone who would understand you, meet you where you are, offer support, unconditional acceptance, empathy, someone who would help you to learn skills to manage the life challenges more effectively. I am confident that because of my professional experience in therapy I am the person who can help you to start the healing process now.

I am Certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Triple P (Positive Parenting Program).
Sometimes life can present us with challenges and there are times when we need extra support to assist us through those challenges. Therapy is one way to receive that extra support. Choosing a therapist can be difficult, but it is an important decision. I believe one of the most important factors involved in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I work with my clients to develop that relationship by listening to each client's individual needs and circumstances. I work collaboratively with my clients to assist them in achieving their goals and leading the life they want.

I have been in the social services and behavioral health fields for over 15 years.
Sometimes we experience life's hardships, and do not know how to face them. Instead, we avoid talking or thinking about them. Traumas may occur in our childhood, in our relationships, or during significant losses. Unfortunately, the effects of past experiences are felt in current relationships, on the job, or in the body. In order to move forward in our lives, I believe that gradually telling the story of painful life events with a professional is healing. Once you have gradually told me about your pain, we can then work together to develop ways of coping and moving forward.

To customize treatment for your needs, I'll use techniques including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Contextual and Structural Family Therapy.
Are you and your significant other constantly arguing? Is your teenager going down the wrong path? Do you feel like everyone is always depending on you? Do you struggle to get out of bed sometimes? Are you afraid of losing your relationship? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, I am here to help. I have experience helping distressed families, working with couples who are breaking up, and improving parent-child relationships. I believe it's important to guide families even-handedly, not taking sides or making people feel guilty.

Starting therapy is a big step and I like to demystify the process. Drawing on tools from cognitive-behavior therapy and positive psychology, I help people approach their current difficulties in a structured and collaborative manner. We'll talk about how you feel, but also discuss concrete strategies to help. I work with individuals with depression, anxiety, stress or relationship issues. Coping with acute and chronic illness is an area of particular interest. I also work with people who are feeling stuck or overwhelmed in either their personal or professional lives with the goal of not just getting by, but flourishing.

"Every Conversation Matters." Counselors facilitate healing through a process of genuine dialogue with their clients. In a world of challenges or going through a life transition can feel overwhelming. These challenges may bring about anxiety, hopelessness, and a sense of isolation, but you do not have to face them alone. Having a safe space to process everyday obstacles-whether from past or present challenges, and identifying solutions that works with a person that is nonjudgmental, and will help you to get to the root of the problem so you can begin to rebuild your life or your relationship is what makes all the difference.

I meet you where you are and together we will look at your life experiences and resulting thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns of behavior.
Life is full of seasons. Joy and sorrow, success and failure, pleasure and pain. These are the seasons of the human experience. And although we can’t always control our circumstances, we can choose to step back, take a breath and look at our situations under a new light. I provide the safe and supportive space for you to do just that. I work with adults and adolescents who want to reconnect with their inner wisdom and resiliency, and break free from daily suffering. Our therapy sessions will help you to understand and make meaning of your past experiences and present day struggles, so that you can turn them into strengths.

Behavioral Issues Therapists

What happens in therapy for behavioral issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behavior issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioral issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioral issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioral concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behavior management, often used when the underlying cause of behavior issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioral issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behavior issues?

Studies show that therapy for behavior issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behavior later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behavior. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
