I have worked with a range of populations, nearly all ages, and also have experience with couple's counseling and addiction treatment. I work with people to develop insight into the source of their problems, how their core beliefs about the world might be hindering their progress, and focus on their natural strengths to overcome those barriers with practical skills that generate sustainable change.

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated and ready to work on areas in their life they feel growth potential in. My practice does not target specific types of clients, but rather is open to all possibilities presented. I assist clients in creating their own personalized goals as we partner to help reach those goals as defined by the client's own expectations and wants.

Greetings - welcome to a compassionate space where your struggles with infertility are truly understood and supported. Infertility can be isolating and emotionally challenging. Many individuals find that a lack of understanding from others can exacerbate the emotional impact of infertility, and I am committed to helping you manage the grief, stress, and uncertainty of infertility. I am also dedicated to helping you navigate stressors related to parenting, step-parenting, relationships, career issues (career exploration/dissatisfaction/burnout), and adapt to life transitions and important milestones, such as starting/ending chapters.

You might be seeking therapy because your inner pain has spilled out onto your close relationships, physical health, creative endeavors, career, or daily functioning, and it’s become unbearable for you to manage on your own. Maybe you are generally well-functioning, but you have long felt disconnected from life. Healing does not have to stop at mental health symptom management. Therapy can be a place to (re)discover your true self, to free yourself from your past, to help you live a life you desire, or to build your psychological immunity. In the grace of the therapeutic space, you can transform your pain into new life.

Do you feel like you're just going through the motions? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you're in the right place. I offer a holistic and philosophical approach that integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness meditation, art, nature, and writing therapy for creative souls (and those looking to tap more into their creativity for emotional and therapeutic expression).
As a caring, authentic, and compassionate individual, I reflectively listen, teach about different communication styles, and can help you to identify emotions and unmet needs. I can help you utilize coping skills for ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use, as well as learn how substance use often results from traumatic experiences. I can help you to understand the physiological consequences of trauma and how it impacts the body, learn mindfulness practices to restore serenity in daily life, nurture your creative soul (through art, writing, music, somatic therapy such as dancing and yoga, etc), and improve self-esteem

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
