Hello! My name is Jess and I have been a practicing clinician for the last 12 years, specializing in treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and personality disorders. I work with clients ages 14 and up. My goal for each session to make sure that you feel heard and validated. Sometimes our emotions can be so complex that it is difficult to understand them and even more difficult to explain them. I am here for you and we can take the time to figure out what you are feeling and how to cope with those feelings to live your best life.... whatever that looks like for you.

Peter's Mountain / Camp Hebron Area. Watch out for deer. It's only 15 minutes from the Burg but it's a whole different world up here. My friend asked me recently, "you'll probably be retiring soon right? You've been hustling for a while." And I said, "honestly I feel like I retired ten years ago when I started my own biz. I only do what I love and I don't have to deal with any silly shenanigans." I'll "work" for as long my ears and eyes hold out. Along with weightlifting and videogames, it's the most fun thing that I do. I'm consistently inspired by my clients who value self-improvement as much as I do.

It's not every day that you muster the courage to reach out and try a new therapist or perhaps therapy for the very first time. Maybe you are hoping to move past old stories or challenge things that feel like they're holding you back? My clients teach me about their own life experiences in a safe, caring environment. I collaborate to help them rewrite empowered stories for the present and the future. My aim is to provide a safe and respectful space for self-exploration.

It’s a privilege for me to be able to share lessons of hope and walk alongside my clients, until they have the breakthrough that they so desperately desire. When seeking out a therapist there's always a few lingering questions. Ultimately, how can this set person help me? At Turning Pages Therapy, we can assess that question together. How do we get pass this anxiety? I Don't know what triggers my Depression, but I would like to figure that out. How do I parent after having my baby? Am I bad mother because of what I am feeling? Turning pages takes those lingering questions and works with our clients to find the answer. You won't read a chapter alone with us.

I specialize in kids and teens who are typically described as the "wallflower," who may not be getting the social nourishment they desire, but also don't know where or how to start. The kids and teens I work with struggle with social anxiety and self esteem issues. My clients learn how to become more self fulfilled, gain more confidence around peers, express themselves better at home with their family, and grow socially. I also offer parent sessions and family sessions for families who feel like they need the extra support for their child or adolescent.

“Life is Difficult”. One of my favorite opening sentences from M. Scott Peck’s book, The Road Less Traveled. But…it does not always have to be. I applaud and welcome anyone seeking help with therapy and embrace the opportunity in getting to know, witness, and work with you as we join in this process and journey together. I am honored to work with clients who are willing to challenge life's situations to find that road less traveled. I have worked extensively with addiction(s), dual diagnosis, trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, women's issues, relationships, codependency, parenting, and life changes.

My primary focus is co-parenting counseling and relationship therapy.
I have a special interest in the family system and how that affects each individual. This includes psychotherapeutic treatment of couples, parents and their children. My goal going into each session with my clients is to help them feel, think and act more positively and have an overall improved quality of life than when they originally came to see me. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important things when engaging in the counseling process which means my primary focus is to aid my clients in handling stress and daily challenges. It can be difficult but with my support it is absolutely attainable.

As the parent of a child with autism, I have developed tools to help special needs parents not only survive, but thrive.
Psychotherapy helps you see yourself, and your world, in a new way. I am passionate about helping my clients to discover what make them feel truly alive, and I view my role as helping clients to identify the ideas or relationships that stifle that power. My style is compassionate and interactive, fully appreciating the courage it takes to engage in psychotherapy, while helping you make room for new possibilities to unfold. I look forward to working with you!

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
