I have a specialty in Play Therapy and I am only one of a few Registered Play Therapists in Bucks County. I hold an MSW degree, and have a graduate certificate from Temple University in Play Therapy.Play Therapy can help with behavioral issues, abuse, social skills, school issues, phobias, abandonment, grief, trauma, divorce, crisis, self injurious behaviors, low self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, depression and grief just to mention a few areas.

Hi! I'm Dr. Joanne and I work with children and adults in a warm and caring environment. I help individuals who who are experiencing the effects of stress and anxiety as well as life transitions. In my work with children, I incorporate play therapy techniques and behavior interventions. In my work with adults, I provide a warm and caring environment for individuals to express their feelings while giving them the tools they need to live their best life.

My first goal when working with a client is to create a space of absolute safety, a space where people feel at ease to share the fullness of their suffering, to share their hopes and their dreams. I use a whole-person approach and learn not just about a person’s pain but also about their strengths and their vision for a better future. This might include parents, children, Grandparents, Groups of Siblings, or any family combination seeking help to overcome and resolve family conflict. This might include co-parenting counseling for divorcees, or married couples seeking help. I specialize in grief, and Family Grief. Specific techniques to manage and overcome grief. I have experienced grief on a personal level. These loses include the passing of both my parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and in-laws. I currently have openings on Thursdays.

Cambridge Dictionary defines "art"- a noun synonymous with expression, as: "the making of objects, images, music, etc. that are beautiful or that express feelings". Still Emerging Expressive Arts Therapy offers an unconventional approach to therapeutic work, utilizing various forms of expression, including: visual art, movement, writing and sound. No skill is necessary, just a deep longing and desire to express yourself free of judgment.
