I strive to make therapy a safe space that is customized to fit your needs. I utilize various techniques from different types of therapy based on your personal story and experiences. Maybe you experienced some trauma and you need help finding your way through it. You want to find ways to alleviate stress, or need to resolve some concerns that you can't seem to get past. You want someone to help you set achievable goals, find yourself, or get out of that funk you've been stuck in. You're coming out of a difficult relationship or you are wondering if it's time to leave. Let me help you create a better tomorrow.

I also teach mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which alleviate depression and anxiety by helping folks to notice what’s happening while also suspending their judgments about the situation and themselves.
I'm committed to fostering nonjudgmental connections with individuals as they seek to move toward healthy, creative change. I’ve dedicated my professional life to helping people with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I love helping folks explore intergenerational questions and problems. I have a deep interest in helping people learn to live with more ease inside their bodies—to learn more about their own sexuality, to cultivate awareness of cultural forces that would separate us from our bodies, and to develop practices that can reunite our bodies with our minds, emotions and spirits.

At Journey, we are an integrative psychiatry practice that specializes in CBT, DBT, spiritual coaching, and healthy living.
I have had the privileged to work with a diverse patient population. My favorite thing to see in a patient is a desire to get well and have a fulfilling life. If that inner drive is there, at Journey, we can help you. It is such a joy to see people come from difficult situations, a slew of other providers with a medicine list a mile long and learn how to become empowered over their life again. I believe all perceived mistakes are attempted solutions that need more education. I teach people to go from a space of helplessness and shaming to pride and awareness.

I use multiple therapeutic approaches including mindfulness-based cognitive behavior therapy (MBCBT), emotion focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed therapies.
People do the best they can for their lives, however, old traumas, wounds and life challenges can create suffering, depression and anxiety. This can be a very lonely place to be 'stuck in' and we all deserve to find our way to health and healing. When people are held with compassion and warmth, there can be tremendous healing and big transformations. I have worked extensively with adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, chronic pain, interpersonal issues, and adjustment problems. No matter at what pace people want to go, this journey of healing and growth should not be a lonely one.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
