I help adults and children navigate life transitions, social anxiety, panic disorder, anxiety, depression, and self esteem issues. I also assist clients who have experienced past trauma and bring a compassionate, patient, warm, and nonjudgmental approach; viewing each client as a whole person, with past experiences shaping their present moment.

I utilize a blend of therapeutic approaches including Mindfulness, CBT, Attachment theory, and Somatic Experiencing.
I am an empathic guide who will help you to challenge your limiting beliefs and find your voice. I love working with young adults and adults who are seeking to align with their values, be authentic, and trust their intuitive guidance and compass. Together we examine your patterns of relationship and thought and how early experiences may be impacting you today. By healing and processing past and current stressors, my clients learn how to trust themselves, protect themselves energetically, and develop coping skills that leave them feeling empowered and confident in meeting the world as it changes around them.

My therapeutic approach is informed by my background in meditation, Eastern contemplative philosophy, and evolutionary psychology. I work with clients to establish a treatment plan that is uniquely sensitive to their particular clinical needs and concerns. Some of the most common techniques I employ focus on the important relationship between body and mind; these experiential, somatic, and cognitive interventions allow for critical shifts in perspective that promote meaningful and enduring behavioral change.

I offer Somatic Psychotherapy and Mindfulness approaches.
When anxiety becomes too much it starts affecting the quality of your life. You may find you have difficulty with the day-to-day: looking after yourself, holding down a job, trying new things or simply enjoying your leisure time. Social situations can be a source of stress in which your body might tighten up for a fight response. You feel overwhelmed; thinking no way I am capable of interacting. Your body can develop symptoms from anxiety. Physical symptoms from anxiety feel like they are filling up your body: pain, fatigue, stomach upset, headaches, backache, dizziness, etc. Somatic Anxiety is the physical presentation of anxiety.

“I love my therapist, but we’ve hit a plateau,” potential clients often say when reaching out to me. Or they’re tired of being treated like they’re broken. If you’ve spent years in therapy and are ready to go deeper and experience profound shifts and lasting change, try mindfulness-based, somatic (body-mind) psychotherapy and inner parts work. In short time, most new clients say, “Wow, that was very different from what I expected!”—in a positive way. If you’re a highly sensitive person (HSP), empath, or old soul yearning to be truly understood and are ready to process more deeply and talk and analyze less, welcome!

I will work with you to resolve areas where you may feel misunderstood, confused, or stuck. Studies have shown that we are able to change throughout our lifespan. This means we do not have to be stuck living the same way forever. My approach is psychodynamic psychotherapy where two people work together to understand what is contributing to one’s suffering and to find a path forward, toward recovery. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents looking for a change and a way to experience happiness in life.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
