Symptoms that can impact the way you function include pain, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, attention problems, brain fog, fatigue, insomnia, body image concerns, & memories that negatively affect your approach to life.
You deserve a life that’s satisfying & enjoyable. I teach adults with persistent symptoms how to function at their best so they finally start feeling like themselves again. My practice offers two types of services: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT tapping) & occupational therapy (OT). These are NOT traditional talk therapy or counseling services. EFT tapping is a mind-body method that helps change the way your nervous system responds to distressing thoughts, feelings, or body sensations. Using EFT, I help you change the way difficult memories & emotions affect how you think, act, or behave during the course of your day.

At nPSYGHT, we emphasize the use of psychotherapy, while supplementing it with medication as needed and at minimum effective doses. We incorporate neuropsychotherapeutic concepts whenever possible, meaning we recognize that advances in our understanding of how the brain works can inform how psychotherapy can be conducted. We stress the importance of general good health habits - diet, exercise, sleep, relaxation methods (meditation, yoga, tai chi) - in promoting mental and behavioral well-being.

As a clinical licensed social worker, I offer individual, family and couples therapy to those struggling with a range of stressors. I specialize in treating mood disorders, eating disorders and relationship issues. I find that the best way to help is to provide a safe, comfortable environment where exploration of emotions and feelings are encouraged and accepted.

How does the "talking cure" help? It might have even been called the "listening cure." Having a helpful and supportive ear is something many people find they need at various transition points in their lives. Having a safe place to talk, in a warm and supportive environment, is crucial. The tool of our work is the relationship and, as research has shown, is the most important predictor of success in psychotherapy. I enjoy working with my patients as they seek to find their way to a richer and more fulfilling life.

I have always believed that we are the masters of our destiny, and couldn't do the work I do without trusting that everyone is capable of change. One of the most exciting aspects of therapy is embracing that hope for yourself, your child, or family. Throughout my 30 years of experience, I have developed therapeutic approaches to empower clients and help them manage and overcome feelings of depression and anxiety, conflicted relationships, unhealthy behaviors and other stressors. As a family therapist, I work closely with families when treating children and adolescents, and offer guidance on parenting issues.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat a broad range of mood and anxiety disorders. From 2004 until his death in 2021, I worked with Dr. Aaron T. Beck, who is regarded as the "father" of CBT, to develop and evaluate CBT treatment protocols for many types of clientele and treatment settings. I deliver these evidence-based treatments in my clinical practice. I work well with clients who seek an active, problem-focused, and evidence-based approach to resolve their emotional distress and life problems in a warm, supportive, and compassionate environment that is focused on the cultivation of a strong therapeutic relationship.

Anxious. Overwhelmed. Stressed. Going away to college. Graduating college. Going through a break-up. Starting a new job. Moving. Newly married. Newly divorced. Trying to figure out who you are in this season. Having a baby. Returning to work...or not. Sound familiar? Let's chat! We work with women in their 20s, 30s, and beyond. Many are high achievers with great insight and are trying to gain clarity into their life's calling and/or relationships, while others have high-functioning anxiety, and still others are experiencing a stressful season of life and need help getting "unstuck." Some are trying to untangle their relationships.

I am passionate about collaborating with you to provide evidence-based treatment that meets your needs. I use a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT) with a systemic lens to always consider the context in which a person lives. I believe that individuals are shaped by their experiences, as well as their interactions with the significant people and systems in their lives, and we have to take that context into account when addressing your problems to create the change you want to see. I work with my clients to identify what's getting in the way of living the life you want and help you learn strategies to overcome those challenges.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
