That way that you are feeling – overwhelmed, difficulty sleeping, overthinking everything and decreased motivation… I’m happy to tell you, you don’t have to feel that way forever. I want to help you solve your problems and achieve your goals in life in a way that allows you to enjoy the process of becoming and having your voice heard. I understand that the idea of therapy can seem scary and I hope to show you that it doesn’t have to be.

As a trainined EMDR therapist, I have extensive experience in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, family and interpersonal conflict, chronic pain and more.
Life is a collection of experiences, opportunities and human connections that shape who we become and how we view the world. Fostering that journey while respecting individual beliefs and values and their capacity for resiliency is at the core of my work. I have been passionately working to assist individuals, families and couples for over 20 years.

You probably already know at least some of what you wish were different in your life. Often the things we wish were different we have wanted to change for months, years, or even decades. Counseling often has a balanced focus on helping you learn how to cope with present day symptoms while at times looking back to become free from old patterns of responding. Those old patterns that at one time may have been necessary in order to survive, now may be the very thing limiting your ability to thrive and realize your potential. Click on the "website" button to the left to read more about me, my approach, and my specialties.

Stressed? Overwhelmed? Ready to feel better? You have started the process, the hardest part is the next step, reaching out and making an appointment. In the chaotic world we live in today, it is hard to reach that place of healing, self-fulfillment and achievement - but just because it is hard, that doesn't mean it is impossible. Whether it's the day-to-day stresses, traumatic events that haunt you or concerns for your children or loved ones - we are all vulnerable to the struggles of human existence and we don't have to walk our journeys alone. We utilize the best evidence-based practices from neurofeedback to talk therapy.

All psychological issues are ultimately existential in origin, entailing a confrontation with death, loss, meaning, purpose and value. All that we do (knowingly or unknowingly) is dedicated to deciphering these daunting and irrepressible demands of existence. Few are successful in resolving or even clearly conceptualizing these existential issues and their minds inevitably descend into despair, depression and anxiety. Some seek to assuage their suffering with psychoactive substances (illicit and licit) and this leads only to addiction and abdication of autonomy over one's authentic self. My System offers a solution.

Do you feel overwhelmed, stressed out and tired before your day even starts. You wonder how other people juggle home, work, school, family and still look like they have it all together. We often encounter many challenges, transitions, and unexpected circumstances. Sometimes we handle these bumps with ease and others we experience overwhelming sadness, pain, loss, and anger. How would it feel if you could manage your to-do list and enjoy your life where you feel empowered and confident as a woman, as a student, as a mother, as a friend?

We are not meant to do life alone. I am willing to be a safe, respectful, and collaborative guide for you or your relationship, make sense of your struggles and find your way toward your longings. If you are done relying on attempts at self-improvement, let’s work together to restore personal, emotional, and relational well-being. A specific problem or crisis may have driven you to seek therapy but you may find that “symptom reduction” is only part of the journey we will take toward wholeness.

As a psychologist practicing over the past 20 years, I have helped adults manage difficult life events, transitional stress, loss, emotional trauma and a variety of symptoms related to depression, anxiety and other emotional concerns. My integrative approach to therapy is informed by humanistic, existential, relational, cognitive and behavioral theories. Interpersonal Therapists

Is interpersonal therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found interpersonal therapy to be effective for life transitions including retirement, divorce, and job loss. Also, some studies have found it to be just as useful as medication and other therapy approaches. The benefits of interpersonal therapy can last long after treatment has been completed; the individual can use the tenets of this therapy throughout their life.

How long does interpersonal therapy take?

Interpersonal psychotherapy is normally time-limited and focuses on specific problems in the client’s everyday relationships. Treatment can be either one-on-one or take place in a group setting; it tends to last 12 to 16 weeks, depending on the individual client’s needs. If a new interpersonal problem arises in the future, the client may require additional therapy to address it specifically. The timeline and session schedule may vary depending on the client’s challenges as well as their progress. Treatment may conclude with wrap-up sessions to review the client’s accomplishments.

Is interpersonal therapy effective?

Research shows that interpersonal therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of conditions such as depression or anxiety. The approach may also offer a range of benefits that are hard to measure but valuable—including healthier relationships and improved feelings of self-worth. The therapist will give the client practical solutions that can be put into practice. The brief duration of this therapy also means that clients can see changes in their relationships fairly quickly.

What are the limitations of interpersonal therapy?

Interpersonal therapy may not effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as psychosis, chronic illness, or alcohol relapse. Because it is short-term in nature, it may not be the best approach for conditions that need to be tracked, though maintenance sessions are a viable approach under these circumstances.

Can interpersonal psychotherapy be done online?

Yes, interpersonal psychotherapy can be conducted effectively either in-person or online. A therapist with expertise in IPT will be able to adjust their techniques, such as role-playing, to better suit the online environment. Offering online IPT can make it more accessible for clients who have transportation difficulties; it also provides the ideal opportunity to explore challenges unique to digital relationships.
