My background is based in Gestalt and Existential theory.
I work from the premise that every individual has the answers within themselves, and my goal is to help them discover those truths and make the changes they choose for themself. Nonjudgmental care is the cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Learning to trust in this relationship can hold the keys to unlocking one’s ability to develop healthy relationships, a more enjoyable life, and a whole self. It is a rich place were otherwise hidden patterns and habits can be discovered and changed.

Clients will feel a sense of caring and unconditional positive regard when in session with me. I recognize there is a delicate balance between being an empathetic listener and expert coach of skills; I hope to bring a collaborative approach to our work together. Clients have told me they feel supported by me without feeling that I have an “agenda” for them. I am most passionate about supporting individual adults through relational concerns, attachment issues, traumatic experiences, and symptoms of anxiety/depression. I also enjoy working with children and their parents utilizing play therapy interventions.

Who is your outlet? What is your story? You are not a diagnosis but you likely have a root issue of imperfect love. My desire is to see others live their full or whole life rather than in parts and broken pieces. You're not broken. There is hope, I teach you how to see colors rather than B&W. I see many clients who have experienced narcissistic (psychological) abuse among other symptoms. I'm interested in how abuse and/or neglect have impacted where you're at today. If you have had a negative experience with another therapist, family member(s) or the church, I would like the chance to free you from your defenses and earn your trust.

I want to help with your problem(s) but also your life in the future. We’ll focus on what’s currently interfering with your daily life. Success requires you to make changes, set short term goals, prioritize, and develop long term goals. CHANGE requires an open mind regardless of your issues, needs, or goals. Independent of what you want and why. Change is not easy, the process is not steady, and will likely include setbacks. Long term change requires modifying your thoughts such as the interactions of feelings and logic.

Modalities used; EMDR, Existential, Humanist, DBT, CBT, Transtheoretical Model of Change.
I know scrolling through Psychology Today profiles can be frustrating, and challenging. Making sense of all of the therapy terms and acronyms, (oh so many of those!) can be exhausting. Assessing and finding your therapist 'fit' shouldn't be impossible. All of us have strengths, and the ability to feel joy. The path to change is often marked with unknown barriers and systemic trauma. My aim is to help others identify interpersonal and systemic barriers standing in the way of growth. I am trauma informed, and an ACES DV survivor and advocate. I work hard to provide a safe space to grow the therapist client alliance.

If you're looking for a non-conventional, non-judgmental, and very laid-back therapist to guide you through this process, look no further. As an existential-centered therapist, I believe that the choices we make lead us down the paths we take; good and bad. Once we realize that we have control when it comes to the choices we make, positive changes can be made. That being said, we often need to accept things for what they are, consider the options we have, come up with a plan, and move forward. Remember, you're only "stuck" if you choose to be "stuck." Change is 100% possible, but you have to choose it and want it.

My integrative approach to therapy incorporates psychodynamic, person-centered, existential, and cognitive-behavioral traditions.
I believe meaningful change occurs when people are given the space and support to consider new ways of relating to themselves and their experiences. As a licensed clinical psychologist, my goal is to offer that space and support so that the process of psychotherapy can be as useful to you as possible.

My therapeutic style harmonizes the balance of mindfulness-based practice, person-centered therapy, and ideologies pulled from existential therapy.
At certain points of our lives, we all experience feelings of anxiety and stress. Our mind becomes overwhelmed and fatigued, which in turn causes our bodies to feel run down. I believe in creating a safe therapeutic atmosphere for you to feel comfortable enough to explore the difficult thoughts and emotions that are a part of human existence. Therapy has the opportunity to create new pathways of growth and healing in your life. I believe we are all on our own individual journey in life. Sometimes we experience painful life circumstances that force us to sit with and feel difficult emotions. Part of my job is to help you find meaning

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
