We try to understand people on an individual level & adapt our skills to meet their needs. Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, & nonjudgmental atmosphere. Therapy should not be simply "learning coping skills", to deal with negative feelings, it should involve working to root of the problem to facilitate long-lasting change.

The best thing about being a therapist is getting to meet so many different people and walk with them through their journey, being able to help them reach their own personal goals. I really enjoy working with individuals that have a desire to make lasting changes and take back control. We can lose ourselves in the chaos that we find ourselves surrounded by, and being able help others find solitude within that chaos is what I love about this profession.

Throughout my 10 years working in mental health, I have learned how important it is to our healing to be connected in heart and body. I believe building a better understanding of this mind-body connection and the impact it can have on both our physical and mental health is critical in symptom management, emotional regulation, stress management, overall health and wellness, and navigating our everyday life in this world.

My ideal client is someone willing to take a chance and seek counseling, showing courage in taking that first step. They should be ready to put effort into their sessions, be introspective, and honest about their thoughts and feelings. Counseling requires effort beyond the weekly hour; it involves working between sessions too. I've successfully worked with individuals facing depression, anxiety, and ADHD, and couples with communication issues. Using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), I help clients explore how their past affects their current functioning, enabling them to process both small and significant traumas.

I have been helping clients of all ages, races, and backgrounds live more fulfilling, rewarding, hopeful lives for as long as I can remember. It was natural for me to become a psychologist and make my mark on the world by doing exactly what I loved to do. Although my clients continually tell me how much they are helped by therapy, I can honestly say that I am the one who is truly changed by helping others. No matter what your difficulties are, I can assure you that you will be changed in some way by entering therapy. There is no difficulty too great or too small to work on in therapy. The only constant in life is change.

My clinical experience began in general private practice, and I later moved on to develop a more specialized treatment approach through an internship with The Center for OCD and Anxiety in August 2020. From there, I transitioned into my roles as Associate Therapist, Intake Manager, and Caregiver Support Group Leader until February 2024. As I believe that effective therapy includes an appropriate balance of empathy, humor, active listening, and proper guidance rooted in evidence-based practices, I utilize an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities (listed below) to tailor treatment according to the specific needs of each individual.

Hoarding Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.
How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.
Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.
Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
