Whether you are a young adult transitioning to life on your own, a parent whose child is exerting their independence in the teen years, relationship issues in marriage, divorce, or caring for aging parents; life throws us all curve balls from time to time that can leave us feeling paralyzed, and not knowing what to do or how to respond. I can help you process your situation and give you the confidence to move forward with courage and dignity.

It’s not easy to face the problems alone. Struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship and family issues, parenting, or major life changes can be challenging. When you experience any of those problems, you might need someone who would understand you, meet you where you are, offer support, unconditional acceptance, empathy, someone who would help you to learn skills to manage the life challenges more effectively. I am confident that because of my professional experience in therapy I am the person who can help you to start the healing process now.

Sometimes people get stuck in patterns that make life feel unsatisfying and empty. Are you feeling sad, worried, or just struggling with life balance in general? Perhaps you are experiencing relationship issues, parenting issues, or have a painful past event that you can't seem to let go. Psychotherapy allows you the space to understand how your past and present thoughts and experiences create the unhealthy patterns that become ingrained.

Parenting is tough, but so are you, and I'm so excited for the opportunity to join you in supporting your family.
When you look at your child, you see strength and potential within them; but big emotions or challenging behaviors can cause you to lose sight of those positives, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and searching for answers. Children are complex, perceptive beings who know and understand more than we give them credit for, but they aren't always the best communicators, especially when it comes to their emotions. Thankfully, there is hope! Taking the time to understand your child's perspective and experience will help you connect with them on a deeper level, setting the foundation for healthy and strong relationships for life.

My specialties are co- parenting, strengthening couples, emotional regulation, attachment, creating family structure, mixed race and multicultural family systems.
For most people taking the step to start working on therapeutic goals can be intimidating. I pride myself in utilizing a collaborative approach to treatment that meets clients where they are while also celebrating the progress they make along the way. I firmly believe that within each person lies the key to improving their own mental wellbeing. I help clients find strength within themselves by unearthing their personal key and then apply it to their life. As a therapist and supervisor I focus on family, couples and children's therapy, especially working with neurodivergence and the full autism spectrum using evidence-based models.

We were created to be relational, in marriage, parenting, friendship, or business. Relationships were created to illuminate our strengths and highlight areas of improvement. Let's join in a therapeutic relationship to aid in a better you. A You that is less angry, more peaceful. A You that is less anxious and more focused and calm. A You that is healed from disappointment and pain. A You that finds hope after months or years of hopeless and helplessness. We cannot be of good service to others unless we have unity and peace within. Let's begin again today, together.

I help clients examine and understand their past, their thinking, their feelings, their options. Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
