I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience working with children and families. I have experience using holistic approaches to trauma, mood disorders, parenting, relationships, substance use disorders, crisis intervention, disruptive disorders, grief, and postpartum issues. I use evidence-based techniques like Structural Family Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I love working with families and couples! I believe those relationships are powerful, to hurt or to heal, and when family systems change, healing continues long after therapy.

“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.”-Shannon Alder. Is that normal? Why do I do this to myself? Why can't I just accept it and move on? When do I get the old "me" back? And how many therapists do I need to see before I get better? Questions like these can eat away at us for years, robbing us of the joy and serenity we crave. We all deserve to find the answers, but first we may come to realize that we need to take hard looks at ourselves.

My clinical interest areas include but are not limited to trauma, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, self – esteem challenges, phase of life.
Navigating a new phase of life, transitions / disruptions, loss of a loved one, maintaining peer and romantic relationships while 'figuring life out' can be tough and you don't have to go through that alone. The thought of initiating therapy can add to those stressors as well as be overwhelming. I would love the opportunity to speak to you to see if I am the right fit for you.

Whether you are coming to therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, a life change, or just a general sense of unease, facing these issues can be scary. Healing isn’t easy because it involves confronting our pain and hurts. Healing can also be full of joy, hope, connection, and freedom as we experience new possibilities of being and relating. My approach is warm, relational, and integrative. I strive to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to look inward – to gently and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself with less judgment and shame.

I have a background working with individuals who have experienced grief/ loss, suffer from severe mental health disorders, and deal with substance use. My ideal client would be aware that they need help. They are also prepared and open to doing the necessary work to address their issue. They understand that therapy is a process, not something that can be completed overnight. They understand that their previous methods have failed and are willing to try again with me.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
