I also understand what it’s like to live in a body that experiences chronic pain and the limitations that this brings.
My goal as a counselor is to assist you in your journey of living a more authentic and fulfilling life. I work with teens and adults, 14 years and older. My approach to counseling is person-centered, providing a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering space for you to explore the challenges and patterns preventing you from achieving your goals and to discover your unique path for spiritual, emotional, social, and mental wellness. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, depending upon each individual’s needs, informed by CBT, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

You deserve relief from pain and a chance to feel like yourself again, but even better.
You're an adult with a big imagination, creative at heart, but you feel stuck. You’re struggling with chronic pain, unresolved trauma, or overwhelming anxiety. Parenting & relationships feel like minefields, & you’re constantly triggered. Your creative spark is dimmed by the weight of it all. You’ve tried to push through, tried to find solutions, but nothing sticks. What you want is peace—freedom from the constant noise in your mind & body. You need space to breathe, to heal, & to reconnect with the person you know you can be. To tap back into your creativity, confidence, and be fully present in your relationships and work.

I seek to identify ways I can help you alleviate harmful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, become a happier person, and lead the life you envision.

Make today the day you take your life back from chronic physical and emotional pain.
If you've ever watched a good movie or seen a compelling drama on the stage, you know the story doesn't resolve itself until the second act. Just as "life imitates art," you may experience situations, thoughts, and emotions road blocking your "second act." I’m honored to help you navigate life choices amidst these roadblocks through my combined approach using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) together with mindfulness-based exposure therapy. ACT is an evidenced-based therapy consistent with the sentiment of the "Serenity Prayer" in focusing on change we can control; letting go of things we cannot.

Together, we build strategies to transform pain and stress so you can live a happier, healthier life.
I am a Somatic Therapist and I help people get out of pain and decrease stress with coaching, movement and mindfulness. In Somatic Therapy, the focus is on the whole person: body, mind, spirit, and emotions. When we become more aware of how these things are interrelated we can begin to work with them and make changes. We practice being more present in the current moment through the conscious use of movement, st illness, and focus. Through this process, we can achieve optimal health and develop our full potential.

I have experience working with trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, chronic pain/ illness, attachment/relational concerns, and other mental health concerns.
As a trauma-informed, somatic, and relational therapist, I approach therapy with a lot of curiosity, gentleness, and eagerness to explore what is happening for clients in the present moment. I often encourage clients to check in with the sensations in their bodies and may highlight patterns I notice. I strive to create a non-judgmental space where clients can access and explore their emotions and experiences, enabling a deeper connection to themselves and others. I also like to bring (appropriate) humor into sessions. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is a key part of the process!

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
