I work with individuals and couples to help with the challenges of living with chronic anxiety, depression, ongoing stress, and other relational challenges.
I am now accepting new clients. I believe every person has intrinsic value, gifts, talents and strengths that are disrupted by past trauma, broken relationships, and life stressors. As a result, many people struggle with ongoing depression, anxiety and other challenges that prevent them from living their best life.

People seek therapy for many reasons, but one thing just about everyone entering therapy has in common is a feeling that something needs to change for life to become more fulfilling. Whether you’re encountering difficulties in personal relationships, grief and loss, work-related stress, a life transition, low self-esteem, the emotional impacts of traumatic experiences, or struggling with constellations of symptoms commonly referred to as “depression” or “anxiety,” I honor your individuality and tailor my approach to meeting your unique needs.

You are insightful and high-achieving, but you are struggling with confidence, coping with stress, or taking care of your own needs. You might have an idea of what you want in life but don’t know how to get there. You are taking care of everyone but yourself. Maybe anxiety, uncertainty, unhelpful thoughts, painful memories, or old patterns are holding you back. Perhaps you need to make a change, or you’re in the midst of a change and struggling to adjust. You want to gain deeper insight into yourself and your experiences, and you’re ready to change your “default setting” and start creating new patterns in your life.

Note: Avoid waitlists: immediate openings with skilled counseling interns (I oversee and work closely with our team!) You: committed but tired of looping through "coping skills," and ready to heal (through anxiety, depression, dissociation, grief, parenting, relationships, trauma, or other stressful life transitions). Me: Compassionate, focused, experienced: with right brained protocols and EMDR, results often occur in a shorter time period than talk therapy alone. Clients who often do well here often have a degree of stability (ie safety and "coping skills"), so mental health can be a priority. Consistency is key!

I work with a multicultural clientele suffering from a range of issues, with a strong focus on self-love, compassion, empathy, and warmth. For those struggling with depression, anxiety, finding vision in life or rediscovering personal identity, we bring a grounded, body and heart focused method to therapy. Suffering is a part of life, and sometimes we learn unhealthy coping strategies, including substance use and addictive activities which can also be addressed in our sessions. Restoring self-confidence and appreciation is a major part of the work we do together.

Do you feel worried, unhappy or uncomfortable in your relationships or just by yourself? Maybe you find yourself saying, "How did I get here? I can’t do this anymore. Something needs to change or else…" You wonder if you're always going to feel this way. Daily tasks and interactions with people are monotonous, joyless or exhausting. You play the comparison game and other people's lives seem to be so much better than yours. No one would understand if you told them what you're going through. Life feels like a struggle. Anxiety, depression, anger, confusion or discomfort seem like the norm, not the exception.

I specialize in working with identity exploration, gender, relationships, and anxiety.
Note: Currently only accepting clients for relationship or couples therapy. As a queer and trans relationship therapist, I help my clients envision a culture of their relationship that honors their whole selves while building effective communication. Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
